Just a quick update.
Multiple tests and several doctors have determined that my mom's cancer is too far along and too widespread to be treated for other than pain management. The doctors were honest with our family and my dad and sisters decided not to submit my mom to difficult and grueling treatment that might only prolong her life for a few months. They would rather she be comfortable and I agree.
Mom will be sent home from the hospital with/for hospice care for pain management. Hubby and I are leaving tomorrow to go be with her.
Please continue to pray for our family in this difficult time.

Visit www.dialrewards.com; to sign up and join in on the fun!
Both of the above are referral links and I can get more points if you use one of them. Or, you can just enter the web address yourself. My feelings won't be hurt...well, because I won't know. LOL!
You can do different activities to earn points.
"Choose an activity to start earning points. Once you’ve completed an activity, we’ll deposit* points into your account. Remember, the more points you have, the more you can spend on chances to win"
I earned 50 points just for signing in and 500 points for entering my unique code. You can use my code to get 500 points too! A few activities like watching short videos and answering surveys and I am up to 5050 points! And I have only been playing around for a little while.
Use this unique code: J4219 in the section to enter a code for 500 points. Since I am a Purex Insider, the number of people using my unique code will be tracked and I could win prizes! WooHoo! I love prizes!
And play games once you earn points.

I will probably use all my points to try to win Amazon gift cards as those are my favorite! So, go sign up...have some fun...earn some points! And let me know if you win any prizes!

I think I am becoming intolerant.
I try not to
be, but it is so darn hard!
It seems
like, lately, that more and more things really bug me and make me feel like
lots of people are just idiots and I don’t know how they manage to take care of
themselves or anything else. (Oh, and I
am really in a good mood today, so this feeling is not just because I am
cranky.)
I ride the
bus into work every day. It is a nice pleasant ride and I spend the 20 minutes
or so reading. It starts for a very relaxing day…except when another rider
feels that I MUST be party to their phone conversations. Usually, I just shake
my head. If they are really annoying, I plug in earbuds to block them out. The
other morning a “girl” behind me…early to mid-twenties…was talking on her
phone. I was not eavesdropping as she clearly did not mind everyone hearing her
conversation. But she did make the best comment ever:
“I was worn
out yesterday from texting all day.”
It was
all I could do not to burst out in hysterical laughter. All I
could think was what would this woman do if she had to do any real work. It
made me sad for whatever company has hired her or hires her in the future.
Then I got to
work and looked around and it is astounding how many people are surfing the internet
and/or playing on their personal phones when I walk down the hall to my desk.
Admittedly, it is 8 am, BUT many of these people “start” work at 7:30. So how
is it fair to the company that they are not actually working?
It is not
really my concern, BUT a few months ago, I was “spoken to” about being on the internet.
Ummmmmm…I was at lunch…made clear by the fact that it was lunchtime and I had
food in front of me. Other members of my team regularly eat at their desks and
surf the net, but because “someone” said something and my boss is so concerned
with appearances, I had to be spoken to. So, now, I leave my desk and go eat
lunch somewhere else. And I am unavailable to my boss for that hour every day.
His loss.
Of course, I
can look at most other team members at any time during the day and they are on
the internet. Sure, they could be researching, but I don’t think any of our
jobs have anything to research on Facebook, Yahoo’s entertainment page or on
Youtube. Of course, that is just my opinion.
I think maybe
my boss says something to me as he knows it will bother me that he might think
I was not working when I was supposed to be. Other members don’t care. LOL!
Also, his loss.
I was worried
that maybe I am just jealous that others get away with what I don’t, but I am
worried about the state of my company. If all of these people are surfing, who
is doing the work? We find out when we hear of some crisis where something did
not get done correctly and everyone needs to drop what they are doing and help
get the issue corrected. I just shake my head that any business is run this
way.
I also get
irritated by people who cannot walk across the street without looking at their
phones. Come on people you need to look at the traffic lights…not your phone.
If it is so urgent, stop walking. I can’t even count how many people I have
told to “stop” because they were so intent on their phones that they didn’t see
the train coming. The freaking TRAIN! How can you cross train tracks and not
make sure there is no train coming first? But we hear almost weekly about
someone getting hit by the train in downtown Houston. I am sure those people
thought they had no fault in it. But I can assure you, the train is not
invisible and it is not silent.
Oh, yeah, and
Hubby and I went to the movie on Sunday. We sat in our preferred spot away from
all others in the theater…there were only two other couples there when we sat
down. And the very NEXT family of five that walked in sat RIGHT BEHIND US. We
are so freaking magnetic!
I guess I
could go on all day about things that people do that are so idiotic that it
annoys me to no end. Or, I could just try not to think about them. Maybe I will
try that for a while. Just be oblivious like everyone else. LOL!
Oh, and I
took a break to write and post this. LOL! Why not, everyone else does.

Happy 4th of July!
Today we celebrate America's Independence Day.
By blowing shit up and eating a lot. LOL!
Thank you to all of our military both past and present that have worked to guarantee our freedom.
Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

Our animal magnetism lives!
We went to
see Jurassic World in 3D and it was GREAT! LOVED it! Hubby and I got there
really early, since the last time we tried to go to a movie the lines were so
long at the box office that we left and went to another theater. Anyway, we
went into the theater and were the only people there, so picked our seats and
got comfy. We like to sit on the first row of the risers as Bobby likes to prop
his feet up on the railing.
We kicked
back and after a bit, another guy walked in and sat down ONE SEAT OVER FROM ME.
I am glad I had my purse and umbrella in the seat next to me as he might have
sat there. LOL! THEN, since the trailers hadn’t started, he gets on the phone
and starts talking. OMG! Clearly he had no reason to worry about disturbing US.
Ugh! At least he put his phone away when the movie started.
Before the
movie started, I put my purse down by my feet. No need to sit and worry about
it for the whole movie.
The next
couple of people that came in sat RIGHT BEHIND US. It was just hilarious! We
say it is because of our animal magnetism. And during the movie someone got on
their phone and started talking. At least that person got up and left the
theater, of course talking the whole way. I always wonder why people even go to
the movies if they cannot turn their phone off for an hour and a half. I don’t
think they are all brain surgeons.
Oh, and
while I am on the subject of inappropriate cellphone use, when are people going
to realize that while you are driving is not a good time to be checking your
phone for messages. If you are waiting for a message that important, pull the
hell over and get away from me.
Rant over.
Happy
Monday everyone!

Thank goodness for the dollar store!
It has been 2 months since my second cataract surgery and I am still adjusting to not having to wear glasses all the time. I have not gone and gotten prescription glasses as I am doing great with reading glasses. I now can function perfectly fine with 1.75 or 2.0 readers. And I can buy them at the dollar stores....for A DOLLAR.
Why would I go get prescription glasses that I will have to pay more for? I have vision coverage, but my copy for glasses is $25. That is with no bells and whistles. No coatings. No progressives. Just plain single vision lenses. Why would I pay even $25 for one pair when for the same money I can buy 25 pair???
So, I have readers everywhere; in my purse, in my desk drawer, in the bathroom, on the computer desk at home, on my nightstand. And a couple of "just in case" pair, one in my purse and one in my tote bag I carry to work. Those are just in case I don't have a pair handy when I need one. I love it.
The only problem is that I take them off and put them on all day long and sometimes this happens:
I tucked a pair in the neckline of my blouse and when I bent over, they fell out. And I step on them. Ugh! Good thing I had another in my purse. But this was a really cute pair of tortoiseshell that I liked. So I guess I will have to suck it up and head to the dollar store and part with another dollar. :-)
Otherwise, I am loving my new, improved vision and have no complaints at all.

You don't have 3 days worth of food?
A friend of mine posted this pic of her local grocery store water aisle.
A tropical storm is in the Gulf of Mexico and headed toward the Texas coast. So everyone has gone crazy! Broadcasters are warning people to be sure and have at least 3 days worth of food and water. Apparently, the stores have been mobbed today.
Shelves emptied of water, batteries and food.
My first thought was that if you don't have enough food in your house to last for 3 days, you have a bigger problem than a tropical storm. Even when I was POOR I had enough food in my house to last 3 days. I had to.....I was poor. LOL!
And another thing a broadcaster warned people was to be sure and go to the ATM today in case you are flooded in tomorrow. If you are flooded in, why would you need cash???? I don't have to pay for anything inside my home. Crazy, I tell ya!
Personally, I am hoping to be flooded in so I can have tomorrow off. Our area does not really flood. When we had the "Memorial Day Flooding" we got rain but no standing water whatsoever. BUT, when it floods in Houston, the buses don't run. I take a park and ride bus every day to work. If the bus doesn't run, I am not going to work. I did last time as my girlfriend drove downtown, but she does not plan to go in tomorrow if it floods in Houston.
We are always prepared at our house. It is hurricane season. We live on the coast. Plus we always have enough food for 3 days. So, we are good.

Renuzit® Pearl Scents® Review & Giveaway. (Ends 5/30)
As a Purex Insider, I recently received a jar of Renuzit® Pearl Scents®. I immediately opened it up to smell and it smells really nice! I received th Sparkling Rain scent which is green and though green is not my favorite color. I do enjoy the scent. In put it on our bar next to some other candles and a plant and I think it looks nice.
It seems like Renuzit® Pearl Scents® has a strong scent while I hold it....and have my nose in it, but it really is subtle. I have found myself picking it up and giving it a shake when I pass by which seems to strengthen the scent. I think the container is nice and would work in any room.
There are several colors and scents, so you could work them with any color scheme. I think the pearls would be really pretty in clear glass dishes. Here it is in my bathroom:
Give your home another depth of beauty with the pleasing aromas of Renuzit® Pearl Scents®. The new look was designed to accent and highlight your home decor as well as provide long-lasting freshness.
Do you want to try Renuzit® Pearl Scents®? Well, you can! I received 3 coupons for a FREE jar of Renuzit® Pearl Scents® and I am giving them away. Entering, as always, is super easy.

We found the perfect anniversary gift.
Yesterday was my parents' 59th wedding anniversary. Last week I had emailed my sister asking what I could get for them. I wanted to send them something, but wanted it to be something they would want/love, not just something to have sitting around gathering dust.
So, my sister texted me that she and my other sister and she were thinking about getting them a new rocker recliner as Mom had been thinking about getting one, but didn't want to spend the money. I thought it was a great idea and told Sis I was in...just let me know my part. She texted me yesterday that they had order the chair and it would be delivered today. It cost $300 and we are splitting 3 ways. A very reasonable price for a really good anniversary gift. I told Sis to send me a pic when it got there.
Here is a pic of my dad in the new rocker recliner:
Yes, it is CAMO! Sis said that my mom picked it out. It is perfect for them. After all, they DO live in a forest. Here is a clearer look at the chair:

What is funny is that when Hubby and I were shopping for a rocker recliner, we tried one out just like this one. It was SO COMFY, but neither of us wanted camo in our living room. LOL!
So my sisters and I have once again proven our love for our parents. LOL!

I can see a bug on the sidewalk.
My regular eye doctor had told me that when I had cataract
surgery, “It will change your life.” Well, it did not change my life. My life
is exactly the same except that I can see it better.
Every day, I realize that I can see something that I was not
seeing before. I just had not realized how bad my vision had gotten. I could
still function, but I guess that is normal when your vision just gradually
deteriorates. Hubby laughs at me when I will suddenly see something that has “been
there forever”. So I am entertaining him daily. Wait, I pretty much already did
that. I guess I just have more entertainment value now.
Today is my parents’ 59th wedding anniversary. I
am so glad they found each other and so glad my mom said yes. I have the best
family ever!
Today is also the 39th anniversary of the day I
graduated from high school. Eeek! I feel so OLD! Oh, wait…. I am over it now.
LOL!

I love my hubby's podiatrist!
Well, I guess he is my podiatrist now!
For months I have been hobbling around with a painful heel spur on my left foot. I knew that is what it was but I had other things to take care of that seemed more important. I also knew that my orthopedic doctor could put a cortisone shot in my heel that would probably get rid of the pain. But I was just too busy to make an appointment.
We were dealing with Hubby's amputation and new prosthetic. Then I was dealing with having cataract surgery since that just seemed more important.
Hubby got tired of me hobbling around, so said he was taking me to his podiatrist. He needed to go for a check and just made me an appointment at the same time. So we went today.
Dr. Mac took Xrays and said, "That must be really painful." Ummm, it sure is. So he gave me an injection and the freaking pain is gone. Why did I wait so long??? I am just so stupid.
But I will not be beating myself up longer than a few minutes because my heel does not hurt. Yeah! On the down side, I also came down with a sinus infection. I fix one thing and another is messed up. LOL!

Aldi has the best ham!
A while back, I’m not sure when but before my cataract
surgeries, I mentioned to Hubby that Aldi had hams on sale for $.99/lb. I was
thinking about going to get one as I thought that was a good price. And I had
an Aldi coupon which is so rare that I thought I would do a little stock-up.
That Saturday, Hubby said he was going to go check the mail
and put gas in the car. I figured he was going to go wash the car, too. You
know a new car cannot be washed too much. LOL! He was gone for a while, but
sometimes he goes out and runs around, so I wasn’t worried. Usually, just when I think about starting to worry he shows up.
After a while, he called me and asked me to bring the cart
out and meet him at the car. I knew that meant he had gone shopping. J He had run to Kroger to get some soft drinks
and “swung by Aldi” to check out the hams. He bought 3 of them (bone in, not spiral cut)! But the price
was great, so I didn’t complain and did not even mention that I had a coupon.
Can’t cry over missed coupons, right? We put the hams in the freezer and went
about our business.
Then last Thursday, a week ago, I noticed a ham in the fridge
thawing so I figured that meant ham on the weekend. Saturday I put it in the
oven and since “it’s your ham”, I ended up cooking dinner. LOL! We had some
left over baked beans in the fridge and I made mashed potatoes and garlic
bread.
I have to tell you, that was the BEST ham I have eaten in
years! It was so good I wanted to just keep eating it. I didn’t, but I wanted
to. It was so much better than the boneless hams we have been buying at Kroger
for the last several years. Even the fancy spiral cut ones. I ate ham Sunday
evening, too.
After dinner, I cut most of the ham off the bone and put some
in the fridge, some in the freezer and left a bit on the bone and Hubby made a
big pot of beans with the ham bone in it a few nights ago. It they were delish!
I am still thinking about that ham a week later. LOL! It is
just that good.
We are on a roll with Aldi, I guess. I got some more coupons
in the mail, so think I will go make a stockup run this weekend. When Aldi
opened around the block, I thought I would be there all the time, but Hubby has
been doing lots of the grocery shopping recently and he just heads to Kroger
most of the time. But I still love my Aldi!
In other news, my eyes are great and I finished the drops
yesterday. Yeah for that being over. Next issue is seeing the podiatrist to see
what he can do about bone spurs in my feet. I am starting to fall apart.
Happy weekend to all!

Two weeks after cataract surgery.
Well, I am
actually 4 weeks post-op for my left eye and 2 weeks post-op for my right eye.
And I have to say I am very, very pleased.
My distance vision in both eyes
is crystal clear. Something I have NEVER had. I was diagnosed as being extremely
nearsighted when I was 6, so I have never had clear distance vision. I guess I
thought everyone saw stuff that was in the distance as blurry. I still am
amazed to be able to look down the hall at work and see things so clearly. Or
to be able to see cars and street signs so clearly that are WAY DOWN THE
STREET. It really is pretty incredible. I have worn glasses all my life and
contact lenses for about 20 years and never was my vision corrected to this
clarity.
The surgeries
were not painful at all. I have heard that some placed give shots to numb the
eye, but mine was numbed with drops. No needles were ever used near my face. I
did have IVs in the back of my hand each time. I was told that I was given
Valium to help me to be calm. I laughed and told them both times that I could
not be much calmer or I would be asleep. I was not nervous for either surgery.
Honestly, I couldn’t tell if I did get Valium as I did not feel anything. I was
told I would feel drowsy but I didn’t. I felt wide awake and alert the entire
time. And that was not just my imagination. Hubby told me that I did not seem
to have had any anesthesia. I was also told that I would probably want to nap
when I got home. I did not. So it was a very mild dose, I guess.
I did not get patches over my
eyes after surgery. Just walked out and went home wearing my own sunglasses.
And they worked just fine. After the first surgery, we went through a drive
thru and picked up some lunch. We got home and I settled in my recliner and
kept the room pretty dim since my eye was still dilated, but I was not at all
sleepy.
The only rough part was like I
wrote about previously about it being hard to see between surgeries. I will
tell you, anyone that is extremely nearsighted that intends to have vision
correcting lenses inserted when they need to have cataract surgery, needs to
have both eyes done as closely together as possible. The time between surgeries
was awful for me. I ended up being off work for 14 days instead of the 7 days I
had planned. I could have used short term disability, but I have a ton of
vacation days, so just used those. I thought I would be worried about missing
work, but it would have been pointless for me to go in as I could not sit in
front of a computer for more than an hour without getting eye strain and a
little dizzy.
I did not
read much in between as it just was not comfortable. I just binge watched tv
and movies. I became addicted to Law and Order SVU, a show I had never watched
before, and got through many seasons of it on Hulu. LOL!
The second
surgery was as easy as the first. No pain whatsoever. After it was done, Hubby
and I opted to stop at a Denny’s for breakfast as my surgery was at 7:30 am.
The only issue I had was that everything was really bright as my right eye was
still dilated, so I just kept my sunglasses on most of the time. I didn’t even
think about bringing reading glasses, so Hubby had to order for me as I could
not read the menu. LOL!
The next day
I could see so clearly! It was excellent. At my follow-up appointment, my dr.
said my eye looked so good that he lifted the driving restriction, so as soon
as I got home I called my hairdresser and made an appointment for the next day.
LOL!
I know some
people have the same issue I did between surgeries, like Sluggy is having now.
But most people do not. My dad waited 6 years between his. LOL! You do have to
put eye drops in your eyes for several weeks afterwards, but I don’t have a
problem with that.
Hope my
experience helps you prepare if/when you have to have cataract surgery.

Our garden apartment....err.....apartment garden.
We live in an apartment and most apartments here have naked balconies and patios. Not ours. Hubby has been busy, busy, busy working on his...I mean our....garden. I guess I should have taken before pics, but I didn't. I guess the closest I got was the pic of our front door when the ramp was put in for us in September. (We were expecting some wooden temporary ramp, but they poured us a concrete one. Our apartment management loves us!)
To the left, across from the window is actually a big empty dirt area. The plant you see were set there by the movers when we moved in and just sat there in their pots while Hubby went through surgery and recovery.
Then he got in the mood to garden. Here is what the area looks like now.
We even have some little statues in the cinder blocks. And a stained glass bird bath. LOL! Hubby is such a goof sometimes. But our entryway feels so homey, now.

18 years of wedded bliss!
Today is our 18th wedding anniversary! I can't believe it! We have now outlasted the combined total of both of our previous marriages. You know what that means.....we were not the problem. LOL!
This is still the man of my dreams!

I have to relearn how to do eye makeup.
I wear makeup almost every day. I wear it every day that I go to work and sometimes on the weekends. I used to do full makeup on weekends, but not so much anymore. I guess I am comfortable in my skin when home with Hubby. But I won't go to work without it.
For years, I have bee doing makeup to show that I have eyes behind my glasses. Well, now, I don't have to wear glasses. Well, I will have to wear reading glasses, but to walk around, no glasses needed.
I guess I need to really adjust my eye makeup so I don't look like this
Please note that if this is the way you like to do your eyes, I am not disrespecting your choice. I just don't want to look like this on a daily basis.
I am going tomorrow to get a haircut as my hair just pretty much hangs right now. It looks fine, but I am bored. So new hair and new eye makeup. I may be stylin' next week.
Or looking like a clown. Time will tell.

Cataract surgery....round 2.
Ha ha! My eye was so beautiful this day....not. I think I took this pic to show the ring around my iris, not noticing the smudgy eye shadow and missing mascara. Oh, well, it is my eye. And it has more make up on it than I have been able to wear in 2 weeks.
Tomorrow morning, at 7:30 am, I will arrive bright eyed and bushy tailed to have cataract surgery on my right eye. I cannot wait to have it done. Before the surgery done on my left eye on 4/7, I was a surgery virgin. I have to tell you, cataract surgery was SO easy and I am not a bit nervous about tomorrow. I AM excited to have two eyes with the same correction. It will be wonderful to be able to see.
I will tell you, anyone that is extremely nearsighted that intends to have vision correcting lenses inserted when they need to have cataract surgery, needs to have both eyes done as closely together as possible. The time between surgeries has been awful for me. I did not get back to work yet as I cannot sit in front of a computer for more than an hour without getting eye strain since I can only see out of one eye. I can look through my glasses lens with the uncorrected eye, or put on reading glasses and read out of the corrected eye, but I cannot see clearly through both eyes at the same time.
Reading for any length of time makes my eyes feel really strained. I usually read 2 - 3 books a week (I read on my daily commute) and with my eyes this way, I am now on week 3 of the same book. LOL!
According to my drs, people with lesser bad vision do not have the same problem I am having. And I am really happy for those people. I would not wish this experience on anyone.
Looking forward to finding out what my surgeon looks like as the last time I met him after they took my glasses away. I heard that he is really cute. LOL!

In other news, I had my cataract surgery on Tuesday and it went great. The surgeon said my eye is perfect and the doc that did my followup the next day also said my eye is perfect. My distance vision in my corrected eye is crystal clear. Something I have NEVER had. I have been extremely nearsighted since I was 6, so I have never had clear distance vision.
The only problem I am having is that my eyes now do not want to work together. The day after the surgery, I had the left lens of my glasses popped out on suggestion of the dr and it has not really helped. It is really crazy as my left eye distance is super clear, but anything closer than 5 feet is pretty blurry. And my right eye has a lens that corrects my nearsighted right eye. The correction makes objects look smaller. With the corrected eye with no lens, objects look larger.
I was hoping my brain would work together to make me be able to see, but I guess the difference is too much to overcome. I can watch tv fairly comfortably, but walking is a nightmare. Most of the time I am walking, I just close my left eye. Hubby is calling me "Popeye".
Typing is also pretty difficult and I am doing it with one eye closed. LOL! I guess I AM Popeye.
I think I will let Hubby take me somewhere later today to see if I can function outside our apartment. I told my boss I will probably be at work on Monday, but I know I cannot drive. So Hubby said he would drive me to the bus. I think I can manage to walk to the office. I think today I will try on some reading glasses to see if I can find something that helps me to function better on the computer. I really don't think I can spend 8 hours in front of one the way I am seeing right now.
I was warned, but somehow thought it would not be this bad. Like I am special or something. LOL! I cannot wait to get the second eye done!
Have a great weekend, all!

New Purex Crystals Scentsplash Review and Giveaway. Ends 4/12.
I redecorated our laundry room! Check it out!
After (Please ignore the shadows on my towels. They really ARE clean ones.)
Don’t you love it?! It really smells great in here now.
As a Purex Insider, I recently received a bottle of Purex Crystals Scentsplash in Fresh Spring Waters scent to try. Right out of the package this stuff smells amazing!! But let me warn you...do NOT stick your nose right to the top of the open bottle and take a huge whiff. Because this stuff is really, really concentrated, so it is strong. Smells great, but you do not want to experience it this way.
As my regular readers know, I do rarely do laundry as I have a hubby that spoils me rotten and does almost all the laundry. I CAN do it and do on occasion if he is indisposed, but it is not a regular occurrence. Since we received some Purex Crystals Scentsplash to try, I thought I would be nice and do some laundry, so stripped the bed last weekend to wash linens. I loaded them in the washer along with our regular Purex detergent (No plug here... that is just what we use.) and poured in some Purex Crystals Scentsplash. This scent is wonderful!
It made my living room, kitchen and laundry cubby smell great! When I finished the laundry, the scent was still in the linens, though not in an overpowering way. It is a nice scent that seems to last a while and I just love it! Our bedroom smelled so good for days! And even days later I could bury my nose in my pillow and smell the wonderful scent. This is definitely a product we will be using.
Purex was nice enough to send me 3 coupons for a free bottle of Purex Crystals Scentsplash! And I am going to give them away. How nice am I?! Entering is easy! You can do one or all of the following:

Dial Miracle Oil Hand Soap Review and Giveaway. Ended 4/11
As a Purex Insider, I recently received a bottle of NEW Dial Miracle Oil Hand Soap. I immediately opened it up to smell and it smells really nice! It smells just like the Dial Miracle Oil Body Wash I wrote about previously. A really nice scent that I think can be used by guys or gals.
Miracle Oil Hand Soap is infused with Marula Oil to nourish and deeply hydrate your skin while protecting it from skin-damaging free radicals. - See more at: Dialsoap.com.
I tried the Dial Miracle Oil Hand Soap was hoping it would be super moisturizing. After all it has OIL in the name, right. Well, it isn’t, but it also is not as drying as a lot of hand soaps, so I guess the Miracle Oil DOES make a difference and my hands smelled delicious after washing them. And it looks really nice on my bathroom counter. Looks like this one will make its way into the hand soap rotation for sure.

NEW Dial Sugar Cane Husk Scrub Hand Soap Review and Giveaway. ENDED
Giveaway has ended.
As a Purex Insider, I recently received a bottle of NEW Dial Sugar Cane Husk Scrub Hand Soap. I immediately opened it up to smell and, oh my, they both smelled SO good! I was really curious as to what sugar cane husk would smell like. Well, not like sugar. But then again, I don't think sugar really has a scent. The scent is very subtle and not girly, so it can be used by my manly Hubby. Which is good, because who wants to keep two bottles of hand soap on the counter.
Dial Sugar Cane Husk Scrub Hand Soap is the latest addition to the Dial Boutique Collection, bringing luxury to your hand washing experience. With an indulgent scent inspired by freshly cut Sugar Cane, this premium formula with gentle micro scrubbers cleanses deeply while moisturizing and smoothing skin.
I tried the Dial Sugar Cane Husk Scrub Hand Soap and like it pretty well. It has a nice scrubbing effect that made my hands feel really clean. I didn't feel like it had any moisturizing effect, but I always apply hand lotion after washing my hands, so no biggy for me. I have been a longtime Dial fan and like most of its products and am happy to add this to my list of favorite products.

Cataract surgery, anyone?
I thought old age would creep up silently, but here it comes roaring down the track. Today, I took a "vacation day" from work in order to have my cataract evaluation. I had one last year but was not in need of surgery at the time, so went on my merry way.
Now, it HAS to be done. I am not worried as I know many people who have had cataract surgery with no issues. Of course most of them were about 10 years older than I am now. It is funny to tell someone that I will be having cataract surgery and they say, "Oh, my mom has to have that soon."
I am not as old as your MOM! Well, not in most cases. LOL! (Please note: I DO know that people my age do need it sometimes. That is just not what people have been telling me about.)
Oh, well. I will be happy to get it done and be back to seeing clearly.
Happy Friday, all!

The biggest check I ever wrote!
I was SO busy
on Saturday!
I had to take
2 cats to the vet for shots and one got a follow-up for his asthma diagnosis. I
was NOT taking 2 cats at the same time and fortunately, the vet’s new office is
right around the corner from our apartment. So I took Max at 8:45 and though he
was doing for a couple of weeks after getting antibiotics and steroid shot, he
has started breathing a little “harder” a couple of days before the
appointment.
We checked
in, then were taken to the exam room to wait for the vet and suddenly I heard a
strange noise. Max was wheezing! It started right in the exam room. When the
vet came in, I told him about it just starting and he said maybe it was anxiety.
So he checked Max out and said he sounded okay and we discussed treating the
asthma, since he had been doing better. The vet asked if I could give Max
pills, which I can, so we decided to try pills for a while to see if that would
get him back to breathing normally. The vet did not want to give him another
steroid shot in less than a month from the prior one.
Then he went
to give docile little Max his first shot and Max went crazy. He has never acted
like that. The tech has to wrap him in a towel and hold him down with her whole
body. It was CRAZY! They got the first shot in him, then he totally calmed down
when he got the other two. Then he went into a full-blown, gasping asthma
attack. The vet decided he would give him a pill right then. Once Max calmed
down some, he quit gasping, thank goodness! By the time I got him home, he was
totally calm and back to breathing close to normally within an hour or so and
no more wheezing. Whew!
So I relaxed
for a couple of hours then went for round 2 of vet visits. I knew I would have
to take Spenser in a carrier as he is not quite as “carryable” as Max. He did
NOT like being in the carrier and cried pathetically all the way there. He
escaped in the waiting room and gave me and a tech a little exercise. LOL! Once
we got him in the exam room, he was a doll. Totally docile, took the shots
without a peep and only fussed when he had to go back in the carrier. Except
for the running around to catch him, that visit was much easier.
As SOON as I
walked in the door, Hubby wanted to know when we could go look at cars. Ugh! I
wanted to relax, but knew he would not be happy until we went, so picked up my
purse and we headed across town to see the first car he like and fit all his
criteria and my price range. I had obtained financing for $10 grand from my
credit union and intended to write a check for the balance as I had been saving
specifically for a car purchase. On the way I told Hubby that I would NOT write
a check for more than $12 grand, so he had to get the walk out price to no more
than $22. The car we were going to see had a drive out price of $22,960. I know
it was only $960, but I was NOT going over my number. Hubby agreed and was
willing to walk if we could not get the price.
We got to the
dealership and the salesman was waiting for us. He was very nice got some info,
then we went out to test drive. The car was VERY nice. A black 2012 Honda
Crosstour with under 40,000 miles, leather interior, sunroof, sub-woofer and even
more bells and whistles. That thing was loaded. Hubby did not seem to be in
love with it even after driving it. I asked several times if he LOVED it and he
would say he really, really liked it. I didn’t think we should buy until he
really loved it.
After
haggling for a while and finally getting my drive out price of $21,000, Hubby
decided he loved it, so we said yes. To make a already long story not much
longer, the dealership beat my credit union’s finance rate, so I wrote a check
for 11 grand, and financed the balance at 1.99% for 3 years. I plan to pay it
off early, of course.
So Hubby is
happy and probably out washing his new car right now. I saw some pollen on it
this morning. LOL!

Dial Miracle Body Wash Review and Giveaway!
Have you tried any of Dial’s skin care products? I know I have and have loved all that I have tried. I am not much of a body wash gal, preferring to use bar soap. I know… weird, right? But that did not stop me from signing up to try a free bottle of Dial’s NEW Miracle Oil Body Wash – infused with Marula Oil. Because I love trying out new products!
As a member of Purex Insiders, I often get invitations to try new products and have had a few giveaways as some of you will recall. Life has been so hectic that I have not signed up for anything lately, but when I saw the Miracle Oil Body Wash offered, I decided that I would just make time to try it and let you all know about it. And I was really curious to find out what the heck Marula Oil is.
When I received my bottle of Dial Miracle Oil Body Wash, the first thing I did was open it and take whiff. It smells SO good! I was not sure what the scent was and still am not sure, but I love it. It is slightly tropical, but not to girly. I think Hubby might enjoy the scent, though he is also not a body wash user. LOL!
I have used Dial Miracle Oil Body Wash several times and love how it makes my skin feel! Nice and smooth, but not oily like I have used body oil. I also love that it does not leave the bathtub slick after use like some oil products do. Since Hubby’s amputation, I am very careful about what I use in the bathtub. Gotta keep it safe!
From the Dial website: “Experience the feeling of beautifully soft skin with Dial® Miracle Oil Body Wash. Infused with caring Marula Oil and formulated with Micro Oil Technology, this restoring body wash’s rich, clean-rinsing lather leaves skin feeling clean, soft and smooth.”
Be sure to check out the Dial Facebook page for their printable coupons and upcoming
promotions on their latest products. Check out the Dial website to learn about this and other scents as well as enter to win Dial products.
