Make a copy of your credit cards.

Some may think it is weird that I am going to give you advice based on a dream I had last night, but I am going to.

I have very vivid, intricate dreams and yes, I dream in color. I am so special. Or is that odd? I don't know, but it makes for interesting dreams and morning conversations with Hubby. LOL!

Last night I dreamed about going on a trip. I won't bore you with all the details, but I was staying in a beautiful hotel and for some reason Hubby was meeting me there later. The hotel was comped. (LOL! I even dream of free stuff!) So, I did not open my wallet until I got to the room. I don't remember why I opened it then, but when I did it was EMPTY!

All the cash was gone! My drivers license was gone! OH! I just remembered why I opened my wallet. I had to prove to a cop in the hall that I was not the killer they were looking for. HA! And you thought this was a dull vacation dream.

Needless to say, I was freaked out by my empty wallet. I knew I needed to call my credit card companies ASAP. I needed to contact my insurance companies, my FSA account, etc. I knew each card that was in there, but I HAD NO NUMBERS. Sure Hubby had cards for the same accounts but he was not there. I was in a panic!

Then I woke up and was still thinking about that dream. Then I realized, before I was even out of bed that I need to make copies of all the stuff in my wallet in case that ever really happened. Seriously, I am barely awake and making plans to be safe in case this ever happened. I guess it was dream residuals or something.

I was thinking I would make copies at work on Monday, but I have a scanner, so I think I will not wait. I will scan them today, front and back, so I have all the numbers and the phone numbers. Then when I go on a trip, I will print out a copy to keep in my suitcase, or in Hubby's.

I thought this was such an essential thing, I could not believe that I had not heard about it or thought about it before. I did an internet search and only found ONE article on this here on About.com. About.com has everything.

Please let my dream be a lesson to you. Either make copies of your credit cards and other important cards in your wallet, or write the information down and keep it somewhere you can get to it. I know I will be doing it.

Purex UltraPacks Review

As a Purex Insider, I recently got a chance to try Purex UltraPacks, a new product that will be available in February.

We use and love Purex laundry detergent and have used it for years. The main reason is that it is so economical. But we would not use it if if did not do a great job. I mean, I am frugal, but I still want my clothes to be clean and fresh.

When Purex offered me the chance to try a new product, I was all over it. As many of my readers know, laundry is an easy task for me, as Hubby does it most of the time.  Yes, I am totally spoiled. But I do know how to do laundry and I do it on occasion. So, you would probably think this was really a chance for Hubby to use a new Purex product, but I did use it so I could tell you my thoughts on Purex UltraPacks, as well as Hubby's thoughts.

What are Purex UltraPacks?

• New Purex UltraPacks are convenient pre-dosed liquid detergent packs that make doing  laundry easier than ever.
• Purex UltraPacks manage to squeeze all the performance of our new Triple Action liquid formula into just one powerful pack.
• Finally…No more mess. No more spills. No more heavy jugs. It’s Laundry Simplified.®
• Each Purex UltraPack contains powerful 2x concentrated liquid detergent, giving each UltraPack double
the cleaning power in every drop*.
• Purex UltraPacks dissolve quickly once the washer is started—even in cold water.
• Purex UltraPacks are formulated and safe for all machines, including high-efficiency (HE).

Purex UltraPacks ARE really easy to use and so convenient. Just toss one in the wash. And they clean just as well as all Purex products, so we are totally sold on the UltraPacks. I won't say they save a lot of time, since how much time does it really take to measure out laundry soap. But they are quick and easy. And I think they would be amazing for travelling, if you need to take laundry soap with you. Two thumbs up from Hubby and me.

Beginning in mid February 2012, FreeSamplePurex.com will be back up and running, offering Purex enthusiasts an opportunity to get their own free sample of Purex UltraPacks and prove it to themselves. As a Purex Insider, I will be able to give you a heads up on the go live date for the FreeSamplePurex.com website.

I can't wait for you all to get to try Purex UltraPacks!

I was provided a sample of Purex Ultrapacks to try, but all opinions are my own.

I'm an athlete!

At least that is what Hubby says. LOL!

I went to work today, limping all the way, leaving at 1:30 to make it back to my side of town for my dr appointment.

I went in, paid my copay, answered a bunch of questions from the nurse. The dr walked in, I told him where it was hurting and he told me I pulled my hamstring. He told me to keep heat on it as much as I can. Been doing that. He told me to take anti inflammatories. Been doing that. And he told me to keep working out but skip the leg curl machine for a while.

Yes, I paid $40 for him to tell me to keep doing what I was doing. Oh well. At least I know it is not a really bad injury and it will heal.

I got home and told Hubby what the dr said and Hubby said, "You pulled a hammy. Aww....Francie, you are an athlete."

He is so silly.

Is it Sunday night already?

It looks like it is and for once, I did NOT have a wonderful weekend. I've posted before about my arthritic left knee and the grief it gave me last year until I went to a wonderful orthopedic dr and discovered the wonders of cortizone shots. I went in October to get a shot, since it had been a little over a year since the last one and my knee was starting to hurt a little. It did its job and after a week or so, I was back in the game. The dr told me I can get one every six months, but I hadn't needed it until October.

Unfortunately, since it felt good, I worked out at Curves a little more vigorously than I should have and a week or so before Christmas and strained a ligament or something, so have been limping around on and off. It would feel better for a while, then hurt again. Did I stop going to Curves? Heck no. And that was probably my big mistake...not resting it until it was better.

Last week, it was hurting quite a bit, but I still went to Curves Tuesday and Wednesday. It did  not hurt when I was actually on the machines, so I figured why not. Thursday afternoon, it started to really hurt. I have to walk 4 blocks from work to my bus stop and I was in agony.

Friday morning, I got up and could not walk. Well, I could hobble, but I was in pain. So, I did something I never do and called in sick to work. I spend all day Friday in a recliner with my leg propped up and a heating pad on my knee and Hubby waiting on me hand and foot. I only got up to go to the bathroom. And that was a chore, I can tell you. I called my dr, but he is not in the office on Fridays as that is his surgery day, so I will go see him tomorrow afternoon.

Yesterday and today, it was a little better, but I still spent most of both days with it propped up with a heating pad. I did nothing but watch tv and movies. Hubby went camping, so I had to wait on myself, but it was okay as I was not in screaming agony when I had to refill my own drinks and get my own food.

Today, it is still hurting, but not nearly as bad, so I am going to work tomorrow, but will leave early for my dr appointment.

What a sucky weekend. Hope yours was better.

The death of my sour dough starter

Yes, I let my sour dough starter die. I am so lame.

I haven't made sour dough bread in months and decided it was time to make some. I pulled my starter out of the fridge and it smelled good and sour. I let it sit out for a couple of hours to come to room temperature. You don't have to, but I thought I would since I had not used it in so long. It didn't bubble up and that should have been my clue, but it smelled so sour. So, I mixed up a batch of bread and set it aside to rise overnight.

The next morning, it didn't seem to have risen as much as usual. Not nearly as much. But I went  ahead and punched it down and made 2 loaves, sitting them aside to rise. They didn't rise much either, but I was NOT wasting 5 cups of flour, so I put them in the oven and baked them. It smelled SO GOOD!

When they were done, they were like Ellie May Clampett biscuits! If you have never seen the Beverly Hillbillies, you have no clue what I am talking about. Big hockey pucks. Does that give you an idea?

Hubby laughed and laughed. I told him to throw them away. He decided to take them with him camping and feed them to the birds. He said the crows and squirrels LOVED it. LOL! So, it was not wasted.

I rescued what was left of my starter by feeding it more flour and water, added a little yeast and let it sit out for several days. It bubbled up and came back to life! Yeah! I made more sour dough bread with it and it turned out great!

So, the moral of the story is to remember to use and feed your sour dough starter.

What a great weekend!

First of all, if anyone is offended by lazy, non-productive weekends, please stop reading now. :-)

I did pretty much nothing all weekend. And it was wonderful!

Friday evening, Hubby and I watched some more episodes of Breaking Bad. We have both really gotten into it. He actually wants to buy Season 4 on Amazon Video on Demand as soon as we finish Season 3 on Netflix. I think we probably will, as I have some money in my Amazon account, so it would really be free. Well, earned by the sweat of my fingers by doing surveys and searches. But no funds from the bank will be used.

Hubby went camping this weekend, so I got to be a bachelorette. It is so quiet when he is gone, even though he is not that loud. LOL!

Yesterday, I went and got a haircut. Well, a lot of hairs cut. I was really bored with my hair, so let my hairdresser lop off about 5 inches or so. He was a little nervous, as I am quite in love with my hair and he was worried for his life until he realized I was ready to let some go. It looked great when he was done, though it feels SO SHORT. It is a little longer than shoulder length, but I really like it. And it will grow back if I don't.

After my haircut, I hit CVS for some deals, then back home for a while. Then I went and picked up my girlfriend and we went to Olive Garden for lunch. It was yummy and only cost me $5! How did I manage that you ask? My gf had a gift card and bought my lunch. Yeah me! After lunch, I came back home and spent the rest of the day watching movies and surfing the internet.

Today, all I did was watch movies and surf the 'net. Well, I did clean out litter boxes and did a load of laundry. Oh, and I made a batch of waffles on my NEW waffle iron that I got for Christmas. I felt like waffles for breakfast and made a batch to put in the freezer. My recipe won't just make waffles for one. My waffle iron was a surprise gift from Hubby. I have been wanting one for a while, but just didn't buy one. It is so nice.
It makes big thick waffles and I just love it! The ones in the pic are from my first batch I made on Christmast Day. I had not gotten then hang of it yet, hence the not totally square waffles.

I did wash all the dishes I used this weekend so the kitchen is all clean for Hubby when he gets home tomorrow.

And lest you think I am just totally lazy, I was really trying to rest my knee up since I hurt it working out. Ugh! And I was hoping the rest would help. I will know tomorrow if it did when I am running around at work.

I had a wonderful weekend and hope you all did, too!

Happy New Year, Y'all!

I had the loveliest New Year weekend and hope you all did, too.

Saturday was a lazy day. Oh, wait, not that lazy. Hubby and I took down all our Christmas decorations, packed up and put them away. Then thoroughly vacuumed the living room. It looks nice and clean, though a little naked. It made me a bit sad.

Hubby and I are both former bartenders, so we do NOT go out on New Year's Eve. I don't know if they still do, but the bartenders I worked with referred to NYE as "amateur night", when all the non-drinkers went out and got stupid. So we don't do that....anymore. LOL! We did go eat Mexican food, but were back hope before the craziness began. We stayed in and watched "The Help" on dvd and both really enjoyed it. At midnight, we wished each other a Happy New Year and happy anniversary, as we met 16 years ago on New Year's Eve. Well, actually it was around 1:20 in the morning, but it was New Years.

Sunday WAS a relaxing day. We just hung out at home doing pretty much nothing. Hubby recently discovered "Breaking Bad" on Netflix and wanted me to check it out as he has really been enjoying it. So we watched multiple episodes and were up until around 3 this morning. We are such animals.

Today, we went and ate pizza for lunch and did a few errands, including going to Kroger, where we hit the jackpot in the clearance bins. We got a lot of canned veggies, including a can of artichoke hearts for .99! I also found 3 boxes of vital wheat gluten, which I use so that I can make bread without buying bread flour. I am set for a LONG time, now.

This evening we watches some more episodes of "Breaking Bad" and now I am sitting here, gearing myself up for work tomorrow. WooHoo!

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year's weekend!
