Combat Roach Killing Bait Strips Review and Giveaway! (Thru 5/1)

It's Spring and you know what that means....bug season. Okay, in Texas it is pretty much bug season all year around. But I know that in most parts of the country you don't have to worry about roaches year around. I really don't have to worry about any kinds of bugs, as our apartment complex exterminates pretty regularly and anytime, by request.

But even with good exterminators, once in a while on of those pesky roaches come in from outside. And the problem with roaches is that if you see one, there are probably already hundreds more that you can't see.

That is where Combat comes in. For years, I have used Combat Roach Baits. As soon as I see a roach. First I kill it, then we go to our nearest store to buy Combat Roach Baits. And they work great! I was thrilled when I was asked to try new Combat Roach Killing Bait Strips.

Combat® Roach Killing Bait Strips formula attracts roaches with the food and water they need. These roach-killing bait strips kill both large and small roaches at the source. The new, discreet design is easy to apply without the mess. Combat® Roach Killing Bait Strips can be placed throughout your home so more roaches can find and eat the bait – resulting in a quicker and more thorough kill.

That is what I am talking about....a more thorough kill! YeeHaw!

We love Combat and these strips are no different. Easy to use. Easy to put discreetly so everyone doesn't see that you feel the need to use roach treatments. Like I would worry about that, but still.

In conjunction with the NEW Combat® Ant & Roach Killing Bait Strips Insider Kit, Combat® is proud to introduce the $1,000 Giveaway featuring NEW Combat® Ant & Roach Killing Bait Strips! Enter HERE.

And I get to give away your choice of Combat® Roach Killing Bait Strips or Ant Killing Strips to one of my readers. It is easy to enter:
  • Enter the sweepstakes through the link above and let me know you did. (once)

Aldi, you have Kroger's attention!

First of all, I have to rant a bit.

I got home from work yesterday and found that Hubby had gone to Kroger. I asked him why and he said to get the stuff on his list that we did not get at Aldi last Friday. I said, "Honey, we got the stuff on your list last Friday." He insisted we didn't, multiple times. He was just sure that we did not go to Kroger that day.

I HAD TO SHOW HIM THE RECEIPT from last Friday's trip to Kroger, where we spent $44, to prove we went. Maybe he is just getting senile. But he spent $77!!! And we didn't need anything. Oh, admittedly, he got some good deals as he loves to dig through the manager's mark down bin, but $77! I told him he could not go to any store again this week.

So, our trip to Aldi cost $18.38 and 2 trips to Kroger totalling $121. OMG!! We have never spent $140 in one week at the grocery store. Never. I was close to heart palpitations. I mean, we can afford it, but I don't want to spend that. And we don't need to.

This morning, Hubby gleefully showed me the Aldi ad in the paper and I told him we can't go anywhere until NEXT weekend.

I'm not mad or anything, but MAN! So, I opened an email from Kroger a little while ago and saw this:
Can you read the first line? It just cracked me up. Aldi definitely has our Krogers' attention. :-)

Oh, and everyone needs to go enter my Dial Kids Bodywash giveaway!

Dial Kids Body & Hair Wash Review and Giveaway!

As a Purex Insider, I recently received a bottle of Dial Kids Body & Hair Wash to review. Since our grandsons are ages 3 - 6, I chose to review the Peachy Clean variety for kids aged 2-5. It is perfect for kids that have outgrown traditional newborn soaps, but are not ready for adult strength body and hair wash.

Dial also had Watery Melon and Berry Cool variants for children ages 6+ that contain bright vibrant colors and fun scents that take bath time to a whole new level of fun.

I intended to try the Peachy Clean Dial Kids Body & Hair Wash when the grandkids came to visit. Alas, they have not been here for bathtime so didn't get to try it. But I DID decide to try it so I could tell you about it. I will tell you it smells wonderful! And it is so mild and not irritating or drying at all. And I am sure that the kids will love it when they get to use it.

Dial is hosting a sweepstakes along with the release of NEW Dial Kids Body & Hair Wash. One grand prize winner will receive $1000, while 250 additional winners will receive a coupon for a free bottle! Just click below to enter:
That is not the only way to win!

Dial sent me 3 coupons for a FREE bottle of Dial Kids Hair & Body Wash (max value $4.49) to keep or give to my readers. And I am going to give all 3 of them away! Yeah for you! It is super easy to enter. All you have to do is one or more of the following:

• Check out the Dial for Kids site and leave a comment telling us something interesting you line about the products for kids. (once)

• Enter the Dial for Kids Sweepstakes and leave a comment that you did. You can enter once per day. (daily)

• I know how some of my readers like daily entries, just because they like to come to my blog every day, so you can also enter daily by leaving a comment about something funny your kid(s) or grandkid(s) did. (daily)

• And just to get the word spread about the sweepstakes, you can link back to this giveaway from your blog and get an extra entry. Just leave me a comment that you did. (once)

• Share this post on your Facebook page and get another entry. Just leave me a comment that you did. (once)

Aldi is a hit in my town!

Hubby and I got in today!! WooHoo!

We left home around 9:00 to get to Aldi right after it opened. The parking lot already looked like this.
On every row! Hubby found a spot an a curb that was not TOO far to walk. And we headed in the store. There were employees giving carts to shoppers, so we didn't even have to use our Aldi quarter we have had in the car for a couple of weeks. LOL!

We were greeted as we walked in the door to this:
I don't know if you can tell, but it was filled with shoppers. We had a little clear space in front of us, then it was filled with shoppers and carts!

That is Hubby on the far right with the blue sleeve. I think he was already regretting walking in with me. He hates crowds. Oh, wait, I do, too!

We sucked it up and headed through the store as well as we could with all the people.
We checked out prices as best we could, but we really couldn't stop and peruse for long as there were just as many people behind us as in front of us. We could not even get down one of the produce aisles as it was blocked by shoppers and employees restocking produce. There were employees and flat of product all over the store. Employees were restocking all over the place.
Here is another crowd shot. It is funny that in both pics it looks like there is a lot of clear space where Hubby and I are, but there really wasn't. It was hard to move around and Hubby was quickly frustrated. I was less frustrated as I can pretty much ignore people around me. But I could tell Hubby didn't need to be in there very long. LOL!

We did finally get through the blocked produce aisle and I heard a little girl in her mom's carts say, "This is our new favorite store, huh, Mommy?" Mommy said she didn't know about that. Maybe when the hype died down. I think that is kinda how I feel.

We got through the store and did get some stuff. Here is what we bought.
The very best price: Milk for $1.89/gallon!!! I haven't seen that price in years!
We got to the check out and it went really fast. Even when Kroger is empty, checkout takes longer. And my total: $23.38! And I had a $5 coupon, so $18.38. Hubby was pretty impressed with that. Oh, and for the grand opening, Aldi was giving out bags...the plastic ones, not the fabric even though we brought our bags, I got some Aldi ones. Yes, they will get used at Kroger sometime. ;-)

We did have to go to Kroger for a few things we didn't find at Aldi. As we were driving, he said, "I hope this isn't grounds for divorce, but I was not that impressed." :-(

Don't worry, I am not going to divorce him. We talked and he agreed that a lot of the prices were really great and it might be better once the crowds died down. I kind of agree with him. I loved the prices, but I will like it better when I have time to look at everything. We couldn't even get down the paper products aisle and whatever else was on there. Couldn't get near the meat or most of the frozen stuff.

Our first experience at Aldi was money-saving even though it was too crowded. We went to Kroger and it was EMPTY.  I forgot to get an identifying pic on the way in, but here is when we left.

My non-trip to Aldi's grand opening.

I edited my post realizing that my title asking if people had jobs might be offensive to some people. I would not want to do that. Hence my title change to my post of yesterday.

The store opened at 9:00 this morning, but we did not go then as I had a 9:30 appointment with my orthopedic dr. I needed shots in my knees so I could continue to walk. My poor arthritic knees have been so painful lately that I was taking entirely too much OTC medication. And it was not keeping me pain free, only pain diminished. So, got me some shots. WooHoo!

Then I got home and Hubby was piddling around, so I did too. Then it was close to lunch time, so we decided to go eat before heading to Aldi.

We finally got to Aldi a little after 2. OMG! Apparently, EVERYONE took off work to shop today. LOL! Or, a LOT of people don't work during the day. We got stuck in the traffic trying to get in to the parking lot. Then we were stuck with people sitting there waiting for someone to pull out. Cars were parked along the street, in the parking lot across the street and another parking lot a little further down. Cars were pulling around each other and blocking everyone from moving. It was insane!

It took me about 3 minutes to tell Hubby to forget it. We could go first thing in the morning. And if it is still like this, we will wait awhile until the new wears off. I KNEW it would be busy and I KNEW it would be crazy this weekend. That is why I took off today, thinking it would not be totally crazy on a weekday.

I was so wrong.

It may not have been too bad inside the store, but the parking lot was insane.
No Aldi for me today. Maybe tomorrow.

But I am good and nowhere near the cliff, SonyaAnn. I think the anticipation was more exciting than the actual shopping will be. LOL!

You are already breaking my heart, Aldi!

I would imagine by now that some of my followers know how obsessed I have become with my soon-to-open Aldi.

I have been driving by the store just looking at if for months. (I drove by it yesterday!) I have been on its Facebook page almost every day. Heck, I have been bloggin about it more than anyone wants to read. LOL!

As soon as I heard that MY Aldi would be opening this Thursday, April 11, I schedule off work for that day and Friday. Thursday....just because Aldi was opening. Friday to make it a long weekend.

Then, this weekend.....heartbreak!

My Aldi's grand opening is on April 10....yes, April 10! From 11-6.

I am so sad!

What about us potential shoppers that work outside the home, Aldi? Don't you think WE would like to attend your grand opening?

I COULD take off Wednesday, too, but I try to be a good employee and give my boss at least a week's notice when I am taking off. (Unless, of course, in the case of illness.) Plus, I am really busy at work.

So, I would be taking off.

I will be missing the grand opening.

I am heartbroken.

(But I will go shopping there on Thursday! And on a positive note, I did get my invitation that includes a $5 coupon.)

I have become just a little obsessed!

With Aldi!

I know, I know...I am probably going overboard. You all that have always had Aldi probably think I am crazy. You that don't like Aldi surely think I am crazy. I have been stalking the Aldi Facebook page and researching Aldi all over the web.

But I don't care. I am so excited about my store opening on April 11....just 8 days away!!

And, believe it or not, I am taking off work for the grand opening. Well, and to have a 4 day weekend. But I am taking off Thursday and Friday, so if I want to, I can go spend 4 full days in a row at Aldi.

Hubby keeps laughing and says it is gonna smell like P@@@@ in that store. (If you like George Carlin, you will know what he is saying. LOL!)

Sigh...I have never been so excited by a store.

Porkstraveganza at my house!

This is one of my new favorite things. There is a tv ad recently for someplace with bacon burgers and they use this slogan. I don't even know what they are advertising. LOL! But I love hearing the bacon quote.

Why? Well, because I love bacon! I may not eat it much and it may be bad for me, but I love it!

So you know I was beyond thrilled when we happened upon the pork motherload in the markdown bin at Kroger when we went grocery shopping on Saturday. I hate grocery shopping the day before a holiday, but Hubby dragged me there without warning. But he has been forgiven.

We always checkss the manager's mark down bin in the meat department and sometimes there is another section of markdowns. While Hubby was checking the first one I happened to turn to the second one and saw a package of bacon for $1! Yes, $1! So I grabbed it. Then saw more! I said, "Honey, look!" (Quietly, of course, not wanting to give away my excitement.) But I wanted him over there before someone else spotted the haul. We started throwing stuff in the cart like crazy. LOL!

We got everything in this pic for $30!
It included: 4 2 lb Hormel boneless hams for $2.99 each (regular price $9.99) 3 packs of Blue Ribbon bacon for $1.99 each., 5 packs of Oscar Mayer bacon for $1 each, 1 pack of some brand I don't remember for $1 (its't the green and white pack in the front), 1 Holmes sausage for $1, 2 packs of lunchmeat for $1.99 each and 2 packs lunchmeat for $1 each.

We did not take everything that was marked down, but we took everything we wanted. It was late afternoon. Usually, you gotta be there first thing in the morning or you are out of luck. The store was packed, so we were just lucky to find it. Of course, there could have been a ton more.

I only know the regular price of the hams because we were overcharged on one and I had to get an adjustment. But we saved a TON of monay and the best part.....we've got bacon!!! WooHoo! Everything is in the freezer now. We are SO stocked.

On the Aldi front.....I am taking off work on April 11 JUST FOR THE ALDI GRAND OPENING. LOL! And since that is a Thursday, I am taking off 4/12, too, just to have a long weekend. Who knows, I may go to Aldi on Friday, too.
