Those of you that have followed me for a while may remember the insanity that I went through last Thanksgiving. I posted about it here.
This year we are NOT going through that again this year. Once again, the other side of our family decided to have Thanksgiving at our nephews house. MIL invited us and we told her that we will not be attending. Fortunately, she dropped it at that. Though Hubby and I did not tell her all that happened last year, she heard a lot of it from the kids. They weren't as concerned as we were about upsetting her. I didn't think she needed to hear all of it, but it turned out to be a good thing for Hubby and me that she did.
All 3 of our kids have decided to attend said nephew's house. Hubby feels a little betrayed, as SIL not only tried to get them to side against Hubby last year, but has also said some nasty things about each one of our kids in the past. And the kids know about the things that were said. Oh well, they are adults, they can do what they want.
We talked to MIL about having a get together at her house on Friday or Saturday, but it would be dependent on what the kids were doing. As of today, we have heard nothing from any of them. Usually, I am the one trying to arrange our schedule around everyone else's, but this year, I am not going to do it. I have everything I need to cook dinner for Hubby and me and that is the extent of it.
I think Hubby is still hoping to hear something from someone. I told him that I would cook on whatever day he wanted if he hears from anyone and they want to come over. I will wait and see what happens. I hope this does not ruin our Thanksgiving. Sigh.

Well I hope the kids do set something up with you and Sweet Knees. I'd be bummed out too if my kids didn't.
As for the Drama Free-For-All Queens....steering clear of the whole lot of them sounds heavenly!
Who needs that, right? ;-)
Sometimes I am glad that it is always at my house and has been forever and every. We don't do drama so its nice. Well this side of the family doesn't the other side that won't be here is drama all the time.
I hope you have a wonderful day no matter what.
Judy
Oh, that's too much drama for me. I guess it's probably good that all my aunts and uncles no longer talk to each other. I'll count my blessings.
I still hope that you manage to have a Happy Thanksgiving.
Mark
Oh honey! I think that sweet knee's family and mine are related. Honest to God. My mother, sister and brother will not be attending Thanksgiving because of my brother's wedding. I tried to book the bachelor/ette party and it wasn't good enough so I said I was stepping out and then they took all that I did and called it their own. It was a mess but dealing with them always is. Den has had it and so has everyone else that comes here. They talk terrible to everyone and chase people away from our home if they are in a bad mood. It is so embarrassing. They only call when they want something. Den said they can stay home and he never says anything. He just got it out of his mouth before I did.
I know how hard it is to deal with family crap. The best way is just to make yourself happy. Tell him I know his pain!
I hope the kids come over and spend some time with you guys!
Oh and I would love a drama free Thanksgiving, but my MIL is pretty good at drumming up drama. One year I could swear, she fell in the hall just so she could have an emergency room visit instead of having Thanksgiving dinner... It was all about her... So yeah. Drama can take a hike this year!
Hubby and I had a chat this evening and I don't have to worry about him on Thanksgiving. He said the kids are adults now and can do what they want or not do what they don't want. We will have a great Thanksgiving day no matter what.
I can't wait to hear how it went.
