A surprise visitor!

Since this was Superbowl weekend, Hubby decided to go camping. Yes, he has been camping a lot, but it is a lot cheaper than some hobbies he could have. Plus, he takes such good care of me that he deserves a little treat now and then.

He is such a good hubby that he went to the grocery store on Friday so I would not have to this weekend. He told me to take it easy and stay off my leg all weekend. Some of you may recall that I pulled a hamstring and though it is getting better, it is still not healed, so I try to take it easy when I can trying to get it back to 100%.

So I planned to have a quiet weekend of watching movies and playing on-line. Surprise, surprise! Chance called yesterday around 4 to ask if we were busy as he thought he would bring Jacob by for a visit. I told him that Hubby was gone camping, but they could come visit me if they would like.

So, they got here around 5 and Jacob was SO happy to see me! And I was happy to see him. Chance sat down and we were having a nice visit while Jacob played with some cars we have here and chattered a mile a minute. Chance hinted around that he wanted to go somewhere with Samantha and John and wondered if it would be bad for him to hire a babysitter. I told him that I would let Jacob spend the night, but that my leg was hurting, so it might not be the best time since Hubby was not home. Chance already knew about my injury and he knows how painful it could be.

He looked so pathetic though that I finally couldn't say no. I told him Jacob could spend the night with me, but we would have to stay in as I would not be taking him to a movie or anything. Chance's mom takes Jacob to the movies and out to eat whenever he visits her and I didn't want Chance to expect me to be hobbling around with an almost 5 year old. He, of course, thought that would be fine. (Of course, he did.)

Chance ordered a pizza so I would not have to cook dinner, but he didn't want pizza. Of course, he didn't mention that until it arrived, but I think he planned to eat out somewhere. After the pizza came and he paid for it. Jacob and I ate pizza, Jacob had some ice cream and then we played. Well, mostly I sat with my leg propped up while he chattered and built "awesome" cars with Legos. Here is Jacob building one of those cars:
Isn't he a cutie?1

Then we tuned in to Netflix to see if there were any good movies on, since there was nothing kidlike on tv. We happened to find Jacob's "favorite movie", Iron Giant. I don't remember hearing about this animated film made in 1999, but it was excellent. I really enjoyed watching it and Jacob really did love it. And he kept reciting dialog with the characters, so it really must be one of his favorites.

After that one, we watche Phineas and Ferb, another one that I had heard of but never seen. It was okay, but Jacob loved it, so it was all good. Jacob went to sleep, all bedded down on the sofa, a little after 10 . Hey, he was at grandma's! I came in our bedroom and played on line and then read some until around 11.

Jacob came and crawled in my bed around 7, but I was already awake so went in the living room and clipped coupons and watched the news. Jacob got up around 9 and we watched Curious George until Chance got here. He hadn't told me that he had to get Jacob back home by 11, so they headed out pretty quickly. It was a little sad before they left as Jacob said he didn't want to go home...he wanted to stay with me. But we told him he could come back soon, so he was okay.

The rest of my Sunday was quiet as could be and I loved it. It was really nice seeing Chance and Jacob and I was happy I could help Chance out. I know he only has Jacob on the weekends, but I am sure that it is hard for a 23 year old to take care of a little boy around the clock. And Chance did want to spend some time with his sister and friends. So, it was all good.

Oh, yeah, and I watched the last 20 minutes of the Superbowl. That was enough for me.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Sounds like you had a nice weekend and a nice visit with Jacob.

I have never seen Iron Giant, but Phineas and Ferb is one of the only cartoons that Kat watches that I actually enjoy.

Annie, go check out reviews Iron Giant on Amazon. It has a wonderful story and I think is perfect for kids of all ages. Well, at least 5 and up. Adults, too!

Glad you have a good time with your guy this past weekend.
The Iron Giant is GREAT!
"Hogarth Friiiiend!"

I also sold a large quantity of IG toys on eBay for some amazing amounts of money. If Bob ever gets ahold of the Ultimate Iron Giant Robot toy, he can make some $$ on eBay with that. ;-)
