My Ice-cation

This is why I didn't have to work on Friday. I know a lot of my bloggy friends have lots of snow and ice but we just don't get this in Houston. All week, we heard the weather forecasts of snow and ice for Thursday night and Friday. My boss, of course, thought that everyone was making a big deal out of nothing. He often thinks that. LOL! But Thursday evening, our company made the decision to close on Friday due to predicted icy conditions. I am so glad it did! All morning the news showed scenes like the one above. All the road were covered in ice and even though the highway department had put down something to prevent the ice, it didn't work. There were hundreds of accidents as people got out on the roads.

I stayed nice and cozy at home and just experienced those accidents by television. The safest way to do it.

I'm glad that you got to stay home. Even Den's company closed for a day, which has never happened here. And the schools were closed for two days. I think that it was bad everywhere.
Why can't we have sunny days off?

Oh why oh why can't my batteries be charged to post some of my snow pics! However, really snow in Houston is odd!

I'm glad that accident wasn't you, that's what I thought at first. I can't believe the weather everyone has been having this year. Thankfully the ice and snow don't care for Disney and haven't come to visit but my family in CT is just about buried in snow.

I'm glad you got to stay home! I'm lucky as I get to stay home regardless, but I worry about hubby traveling over a mountain everyday to work!

Hi, everyone. Thanks for stopping by to see me.

I had such a lovely day off, I might start praying for regular ice storms. LOL!

Marilyn, I should have taken a camera outside when we went to dinner. Even thought there was no ice on the roads near our home by that time, there were little icesicles hanging on the bottom of our cars. It was cute!

You are nuts if you think icicles are cute. Dear God woman, everything here is cute then. It's going to be -10 tonight more cute on the way.

SonyaAnn, icicles (Ummm, yeah, I DO know how to spell it. LOL!) in Houston ARE cute, kind of like an endangered animal. It is so rare that we see them, they are a little awe inspiring.

That is the one thing that is NOT bigger in Texas.
