We had a really quiet Easter, this year. All the kids were off doing other things, so it was just Hubby and me. We went to see Disney's African Cats and loved it!
Then we went grocery shopping. No deals, just some stuff we needed. I didn't use a single coupon! My cashier commented that he had not seen me in a while. LOL! He rang up our order, then asked for my coupons. I ALWAYS have coupons. I told him I didn't have any and he looked totally shocked. LOL!
I was at Kroger....no, I haven't boycotted since they changed the policy. But I told the cashier that since Kroger changed its coupon policy, I would not be doing as much deal shopping there. I guess not doing deals there may save us some money. We only spent $38!
It was funny to see his shocked expression when I had no coupons. LOL!

I admit it...I am a closet rocker chick!
I listen to all kinds of music, but hard rock/heavy metal has never been my favorite.
Until now.
I am totally IN LOVE with James Durbin on American Idol! I LOVE all of his performances! Hope he stays on the show for a while.

I passed!
I took the day off of work today. Yeah for a 3 day weekend! The reason I took off was to go have my annual mammogram, bi-annual bonescan and a stress test at cardiologist.
Last month, I had my well woman exam and everything was good. Yeah for me. I then scheduled my mammogram and bone scan for today. I am a good girl and get my mammos done every year. Aren't you proud of me? I am very fortunate that I have squishy boobs and mammos are not bad at all. The place where I have them done has a new digital machine, so it was even less uncomfortable the old machine. I will get the mammo results later this week, but I am sure all is good.
The nurse told me "unofficially" that my bone scan was great. My bones are denser than normal for my age. Yeah for me!
I went to the cardiologist, as I haven't been in 3 years. I have not had any problems, but since heart disease IS the number one killer of women, I just want to make sure that I am not one of those women. Well, at least I try. The doctor said I did great. The results were great and he would see me in 3 years. LOL!
So, I passed everything and I am good to go for another year. Yeah!
Oh, and Saturday, Hubby and I went and had eye exams. I ordered new specs and they are RED. I can't wait to get them.
Have a great week everyone!

I hate buying bras!
I used to not mind it. I would head to the store and buy what was cheap. I used to love a style of JMS bras and for years bought that style whenever I needed a bra. I could often find them on sale for less than $10. They were comfy, supportive and lasted pretty well.
Then my boobs grew. And that style did not come in big enough sizes. So I tried many bras and just didn't find any that were comfy, so just took what I could find that fit well and were supportive.
Then I discovered Glamorize bras. They are comfy and supportive, but more than I was used to paying for bras. I know, I know a lot of people are happy to pay $38 for a bra and some pay a lot more. But it was hard for me, since I am cheap. LOL! But they are comfy and supportive and hold up really, really well. I usually buy a couple a year and they last a couple of years. So, I have 4 in rotation.
I know, I know, a lot of people have a bra for every day of the week, but I don't.
I always watch for good sales and today got lucky. I got an email from jms.com, where I buy mine from. And today only, they had $15 off a $60 order. AND they have B2G1 free for ANY bra.
So, I hopped on that deal and got 3 $38 bras for $66 and free shipping!! WooHoo! Today, I did not hate buying bras.
JMS.com regularly has sales, so I am on the mailing list. It pays to sign up for the mailing list of your favorite stores!

Feeling almost human again.
After 3 pretty rough days, I am feeling almost human again. Well, the 3 days weren't that rough, I guess. I spent a lot of time sleeping and the rest of the time doing nothing. LOL!
This morning, I got up at 6 and put on makeup. Then I was getting ready to get dressed and thought, "What the heck am I doing?" I still felt like crap but was planning to go to work? What planet am I from? So, I called and left my boss a message that I was not coming in. Not only would I have been pretty unproductive, but in our new work environment if I was the least bit contagious, I would have been sharing with several people and did not want to do that.
So, I went back to sleep and slept until noon. Then I got up and sat and read and watched tv all day. Totally unproductive, yes, but I got a lot of rest and finally feel more human. Thank goodness for Zicam, which I think really does shorten the duration of a cold. I always have it on hand and start using it as soon as I feel on coming on.
I will be going to work tomorrow and hope to be able to get 2 days worth of work done. Hopefully, nothing exploded on my desk today. LOL!

The best laid plans...
sometimes go awry.
I had plans to do some bargain shopping this weekend. There were some good deals at CVS and Walgreens and I had planned to pull out a lot of lower value coupons and heading to Kroger to stock up before they stop doubling/tripling coupons on 4/12.
What happened? I got sick....again. Well, it probably only seems like I was just sick. In reality it was several months ago. But somehow I managed to get a cold. In April!
I started feeling bad on Friday, but just thought it was allergies. I worked all day and still felt bad in the evening, still thinking it was just allergies. Then Saturday I woke up with a totally stopped up head and could barely breath. Ugh. I slept on and off most of the day. When I did get up, I didn't feel like doing anything.
Hubby went to MIL's to set up her new vcr/dvd player we bought her and an early Mother's Day gift, as her old one was trying to die. He offered to go to Walgreens, CVS and Kroger if I gave him a list and coupons. I felt so bad that I didn't even care about deals. Now, you KNOW that means I felt bad. LOL!
So, no deals this weekend. But that is okay, since more will come along and hopefully I will feel better then.

My workout jinx.
Look, everyone, I am posting something!
I thought I would share with you the recent goings on with my workout schedule. YES, I work out!
Six years ago a Curves opened in downtown Houston about 5 minutes away from our office. My friend, we will call her Rhonda, since that is her name, joined almost as soon as they opened. After she had been going for a year, she convinced me to go to an open house with her. After doing the circuit and finding it rather enjoyable, I asked her if I needed to join. She said, "Yes." Since I always do what Rhonda tells me to do....LOL!....I joined.
We have gone, pretty faithfully, 3 times a week for the last 5 years. We only missed if we were out of town or sick and then the other one would go alone. Yes....I work out.
I didn't lose weight, but I got stronger. My heart is stronger, my blood pressure and cholesterol went down and got some pretty great bicep muscles. I can now stir pots of jam without any discomfort. I used to be an agony after a couple of hours. One of the biggest benefits is one that I cannot prove has anything to do with regular exercise, but I can't think of anything else it can be. I have been having the easiest menopause of anyone I know. My mom had it rough when she went through menopause. I swore after watching her that I would be taking mass amounts of drugs if mine was anything like hers. My younger sister, who is very fit and rail thin, is having a terrible time. Me, on the other hand, well...the only symptom I ever had was minor "warm flashes" for about 6 months. They were never hot and only lasted about 30 seconds. LOL! I am loving menopause!
About 5 weeks ago, on a day we were going to work out, we got an email from the lady that was to be working at Curves that evening telling us that she got to work and the lock was being changed on the door and there was a sign that it was closed until further notice. She had no idea what was going on.
The next day, we got an email from the owner telling us that there was a misunderstanding and she was working to clear it up. She offered to send us travel passes so we could work out at another Curves and she would let us know when she reopened. Oh, and we would not be billed until further notice.
So, Rhonda and I went to a Curves closer to our homes the next week for our 3 workouts. Rhonda's mom is a member there and really likes it. We did too. The only issue was that we would get home later, but only by about 10 minutes. So we were thinking of moving our membership.
The next Monday, Rhonda's mom called her. That Curves was closed! Apparently, the owners are getting a divorce and were having a dispute. OH MY GOD....we shut down 2 Curves!
So we went to another Curves. It was farther from home, but we only got home about 15 minutes later, though we had to drive through some heavy traffic to get there. But we didn't like it very much as the members seemed to do whatever they wanted and did not observe "circuit etiquette", so it was a pain in the butt to try to get our full workout in. We still went there until our travel passes ran out last week.
It did not shut down, though. LOL!
Now, after work, we are going walking in Rhonda's neighborhood until the weather gets too hot. Then it will have to be something at home.
Ugh! So much effort just to do something that is good for us.

What I did on my mini vacation.
Sorry to take so long to get around to letting you all know about our vacation. We had a wonderful, wonderful time! It's always nice to have a long weekend, but a lot of times, Hubby and I will be doing our own things in different rooms at home, so it was especially nice to spend so much time together. It was like we were dating again! We definitely have to do it a lot more often.
We were total tourists and did a lot of driving to areas of Galveston that we had never seen. Did a little shopping. Ate some delicious food. We rode the ferry and here is a pic of us. Isn't my hair beautiful? LOL! It was really windy.

We found an almost deserted beach and drove around checking out all the beach houses that have been rebuilt since Hurricane Ike hit a couple of years ago. Some parts of the town were totally wiped out and it has recovered very nicely. Though there were som houses that were never repaired or rebuilt. It was a little sad seeing reminders of the destruction.
We had a really nice hotel with free breakfast. We will definitely stay there again. We were gone 3 full days, getting back home around 5pm on Sunday. We took a detour on the way home and stopped by a farm we love and bought some lovely fresh veggies.
When we got home, our kitties were overjoyed to see us. They got a little lonely. And we had a lovely refinished bathtub. Yeah!
