Hunger Games...a kids' movie?

I think now. (That was supposed to be NOT.)

Hubby and I went to see Hunger Games yesterday. I liked it, though could not see what all the hoopla was about. I guess I need to read the books. Hubby liked it okay.

We could not BELIEVE the number of people that brought their little kids to this movie! I am talking 7, 8 and 9 year old. Now, they could just all have looked really young, but they DID look that young to me.

This movie was violent! There are much more violent movies out there, but this was just way too violent for little kids. Hubby agreed and he has always been more lax on what is kid appropriate than I have.

I just do not understand parents that take their kids to movies like this. If you took yours to see Hunger Games, can you explain this to me???

Its funny you should say that since hubby and I saw it this weekend and there were many families there with little children.

While I liked the movie(loved the book) I don't think it was appropriate at all for anyone under 13

judy(yeah that one)

When Anna was in 2nd grade, everyone of the kids in her class had seen Titanic except her. I thought that it was too violent and upsetting. I was very careful about what I let them watch. Both kids never had cable in their rooms-ever. They both had a tv and a VCR. I monitored everything that they watched. I'm a mean mom like that.

I wont let my kids (9 and 10 ) watch PG13 movies. Their father of course has to one up me on everything so he took them to see it.

He also lets them watch rated horror movies at his house.

Maybe all the kids at the theater were with their part time weekend Dads just trying to piss mom off?

Nope, I wouldn't take my younger three but am considering taking Johnny to it. He'll be twelve soon and I think he could handle it.
Still, I won't take him until it hits the $2.00 theatre. I'm cheap that way!

I won't let my 12 year see it. I started reading the book and stopped as soon as I saw where this was going.

Hi, Judy. I have the books on my wish list with my library. I will read at least the first one to see if I like it.

SonyaAnn, didn't put tvs in the kids' rooms until they were in junior high. And they were the first thing that got taken away if someone got in trouble. I am meaner.

Free!, sorry your kids' dad is like that. Our kids' mom is like that. When Hubby was taking them to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, their mom was letting them watch the Full Monty. So, it goes both ways.

And we saw a lot of apparent families at the movie. Plus, it was the second weekend. Don't most "part time" dads have 1st, 3rd and 5th?

Mark, I know you are a good judge of what your kids can watch. I just question little kids seeing it.

We used to love the $1 movie!
