NEW Dial Sugar Cane Husk Scrub Hand Soap Review and Giveaway. ENDED

Giveaway has ended.

As a Purex Insider, I recently received a bottle of NEW Dial Sugar Cane Husk Scrub Hand Soap. I immediately opened it up to smell and, oh my, they both smelled SO good! I was really curious as to what sugar cane husk would smell like. Well, not like sugar. But then again, I don't think sugar really has a scent. The scent is very subtle and not girly, so it can be used by my manly Hubby. Which is good, because who wants to keep two bottles of hand soap on the counter.

Dial Sugar Cane Husk Scrub Hand Soap is the latest addition to the Dial Boutique Collection, bringing luxury to your hand washing experience. With an indulgent scent inspired by freshly cut Sugar Cane, this premium formula with gentle micro scrubbers cleanses deeply while moisturizing and smoothing skin.

I tried the Dial Sugar Cane Husk Scrub Hand Soap and like it pretty well. It has a nice scrubbing effect that made my hands feel really clean. I didn't feel like it had any moisturizing effect, but I always apply hand lotion after washing my hands, so no biggy for me. I have been a longtime Dial fan and like most of its products and am happy to add this to my list of favorite products.

Cataract surgery, anyone?

I thought old age would creep up silently, but here it comes roaring down the track. Today, I took a "vacation day" from work in order to have my cataract evaluation. I had one last year but was not in need of surgery at the time, so went on my merry way.

Now, it HAS to be done. I am not worried as I know many people who have had cataract surgery with no issues. Of course most of them were about 10 years older than I am now. It is funny to tell someone that I will be having cataract surgery and they say, "Oh, my mom has to have that soon."

I am not as old as your MOM! Well, not in most cases. LOL! (Please note: I DO know that people my age do need it sometimes. That is just not what people have been telling me about.)

Oh, well. I will be happy to get it done and be back to seeing clearly.

Happy Friday, all!

The biggest check I ever wrote!

I was SO busy on Saturday!

I had to take 2 cats to the vet for shots and one got a follow-up for his asthma diagnosis. I was NOT taking 2 cats at the same time and fortunately, the vet’s new office is right around the corner from our apartment. So I took Max at 8:45 and though he was doing for a couple of weeks after getting antibiotics and steroid shot, he has started breathing a little “harder” a couple of days before the appointment.

We checked in, then were taken to the exam room to wait for the vet and suddenly I heard a strange noise. Max was wheezing! It started right in the exam room. When the vet came in, I told him about it just starting and he said maybe it was anxiety. So he checked Max out and said he sounded okay and we discussed treating the asthma, since he had been doing better. The vet asked if I could give Max pills, which I can, so we decided to try pills for a while to see if that would get him back to breathing normally. The vet did not want to give him another steroid shot in less than a month from the prior one.

Then he went to give docile little Max his first shot and Max went crazy. He has never acted like that. The tech has to wrap him in a towel and hold him down with her whole body. It was CRAZY! They got the first shot in him, then he totally calmed down when he got the other two. Then he went into a full-blown, gasping asthma attack. The vet decided he would give him a pill right then. Once Max calmed down some, he quit gasping, thank goodness! By the time I got him home, he was totally calm and back to breathing close to normally within an hour or so and no more wheezing. Whew!

So I relaxed for a couple of hours then went for round 2 of vet visits. I knew I would have to take Spenser in a carrier as he is not quite as “carryable” as Max. He did NOT like being in the carrier and cried pathetically all the way there. He escaped in the waiting room and gave me and a tech a little exercise. LOL! Once we got him in the exam room, he was a doll. Totally docile, took the shots without a peep and only fussed when he had to go back in the carrier. Except for the running around to catch him, that visit was much easier.

As SOON as I walked in the door, Hubby wanted to know when we could go look at cars. Ugh! I wanted to relax, but knew he would not be happy until we went, so picked up my purse and we headed across town to see the first car he like and fit all his criteria and my price range. I had obtained financing for $10 grand from my credit union and intended to write a check for the balance as I had been saving specifically for a car purchase. On the way I told Hubby that I would NOT write a check for more than $12 grand, so he had to get the walk out price to no more than $22. The car we were going to see had a drive out price of $22,960. I know it was only $960, but I was NOT going over my number. Hubby agreed and was willing to walk if we could not get the price.

We got to the dealership and the salesman was waiting for us. He was very nice got some info, then we went out to test drive. The car was VERY nice. A black 2012 Honda Crosstour with under 40,000 miles, leather interior, sunroof, sub-woofer and even more bells and whistles. That thing was loaded. Hubby did not seem to be in love with it even after driving it. I asked several times if he LOVED it and he would say he really, really liked it. I didn’t think we should buy until he really loved it.

After haggling for a while and finally getting my drive out price of $21,000, Hubby decided he loved it, so we said yes. To make a already long story not much longer, the dealership beat my credit union’s finance rate, so I wrote a check for 11 grand, and financed the balance at 1.99% for 3 years. I plan to pay it off early, of course.

So Hubby is happy and probably out washing his new car right now. I saw some pollen on it this morning. LOL!

Dial Miracle Body Wash Review and Giveaway!

Have you tried any of Dial’s skin care products? I know I have and have loved all that I have tried. I am not much of a body wash gal, preferring to use bar soap. I know… weird, right? But that did not stop me from signing up to try a free bottle of Dial’s NEW Miracle Oil Body Wash – infused with Marula Oil. Because I love trying out new products!

As a member of Purex Insiders, I often get invitations to try new products and have had a few giveaways as some of you will recall. Life has been so hectic that I have not signed up for anything lately, but when I saw the Miracle Oil Body Wash offered, I decided that I would just make time to try it and let you all know about it. And I was really curious to find out what the heck Marula Oil is.
When I received my bottle of Dial Miracle Oil Body Wash, the first thing I did was open it and take whiff. It smells SO good! I was not sure what the scent was and still am not sure, but I love it. It is slightly tropical, but not to girly. I think Hubby might enjoy the scent, though he is also not a body wash user. LOL!

I have used Dial Miracle Oil Body Wash several times and love how it makes my skin feel! Nice and smooth, but not oily like I have used body oil. I also love that it does not leave the bathtub slick after use like some oil products do. Since Hubby’s amputation, I am very careful about what I use in the bathtub. Gotta keep it safe!

From the Dial websiteExperience the feeling of beautifully soft skin with Dial® Miracle Oil Body Wash. Infused with caring Marula Oil and formulated with Micro Oil Technology, this restoring body wash’s rich, clean-rinsing lather leaves skin feeling clean, soft and smooth.

Be sure to check out the Dial Facebook page for their printable coupons and upcoming
promotions on their latest products. Check out the Dial website to learn about this and other scents as well as enter to win Dial products.

A Fairly Frugal Weekend

Life it pretty much the same at our house. I go to work and look forward to the weekends.  Hubby is doing well and has graduated from physical therapy and walking like a champ on his new leg.

This weekend we both went for eye exam. Yes…it is couple time. LOL! We always go together as we go on Saturday and it is good to have someone to help pick out glasses when you are blind like I am.  I wrote last January about my eye exam and subsequent cataract evaluation here. I have been doing okay for the last year, though in the last few months it seems like I am not seeing as well and on occasion, I seem to have some double vision issues. Yep, my cataracts are now imparing my vision. AND the doctor can no longer correct it with lenses. I figure it must really be time for the surgery as if the doctor could correct it at all it seems like he would be trying to make a few bucks off selling me some glasses while I “think about the surgery”.  But he didn’t.

So I called today to schedule the re-evaluation and will schedule the surgery. It is not that I am scared of having it done. I know so many people that have had it with no issues. But I just have not wanted to take the time off work.  I don’t know why, except that I took a lot of time off with Hubby. I have plenty of vacation time, so it won’t hurt to take off. I have to use PTO as we don’t have “sick time” anymore. If I have to be out longer than 5 consecutive days for the surgeries, then I would have to go on short term disability on the 6th day. So, I won’t use more than 5 “vacation days” for it. But I REALLY wanted to schedule a trip to Tennessee soon. I guess that will now delay until later on.

Hubby does not need corrective lenses at all! He and the doc came out joking that the amputation of his leg corrected his nearsightedness  and that if he had the other leg amputated he would have super vision. LOL! They are both very silly. Hubby was only the slightest bit nearsighted, so I guess the correction happened with age. He needs reading glasses, but he buys them at the drug store and has pairs all over the place.

So our two exams only cost $128. Our exams were each $25 and we had both had a service that insurance does not cover that replaces dilation of the eyes. Our dr has a machine that takes pics of the inside of your eye…and it is really cool. It gives a much more detailed view so I think it is worth the $39. That is the least amount of money we have paid at the eye doctor in YEARS. Afterward, we celebrated not having to buy $400 glasses by going to a Chinese buffet for lunch. Yummy!

Yesterday, we went to see The Imitation Game, a really good movie, using a gift card Hubby got for Christmas the year before last, then we went Chili's for lunch, using a gift card I got for Christmas this year. But he HAD to have dessert, so our lunch cost $16 after the gift card. But I won’t complain about $16 for a movie and lunch date. It was fun!

And we saved a LOT of money by making NO trips to the grocery store this weekend. Yeah!
