15 years ago, today

I married my best friend.

And he is still my best friend. I am so blessed to have found the man of my dreams.

We have now been married longer than our first marriages lasted combined. :-) So, clearly the issues in our first marriages were not us. We are so perfect. LOL!

Yesterday was a great day. Hubby and I didn't have such good gambling luck during the day, but last night the tables turned. I found a great slot machine that kept paying and I sat at that baby for 3 hours! I put in $20 and played on that the whole time. Several times I was up to $500 and once got over $600, but silly me I kept playing. I finally cashed out tat 12:30 this morning with $330. Not $600, but still a pretty good return on $20.

I am now ahead and will be taking home more than I brought to gamble. Hubby's luck has not been so good, but he is still taking money home. I am up and dressed and will start getting stuff ready to pack up. Hubby was up really early and is taking a nap right now. When he gets up, we will finish packing, load the car and go check out. I think we are going to go to the casino for a bit before we head home, but we will only take a little money to gamble with. So whether the luck is good or bad, we will still take something home.

Having a great anniversary so far!

Still beating the odds...

Yes, I am still winning at the casino. So far I have not even had to gamble with my own money! Yeah! I had $30 in free plays the first day and played on that for hours and came back with $65. WooHoo!

Yesterday, I took that $65 plus my "daily allotment" of $$. I sat at the first machine and the free play logo popped up. I clicked it and had $30 in free play again! Yeah, again! I played on that and my winnings from the previous day and came back at the end of the night $40 up. So, yes, I lost some of that money, but it was not MY money, so I don't care. And I had a ball! Hubby didn't do quite so well, so didn't have as much fun as I did. Hopefully, he will have more fun today.

The casino was really crowded yesterday with lots of OLD people, as Tuesdays are 55+ Day. There is a free slot tournament for anyone 55 and over and the buffet is $5.50. Since Hubby is 55, of course we checked that out. LOL!

We felt really YOUNG all day, because comparatively speaking, we were.

Today, we have been relaxing and are getting ready to head "into town" for lunch at a little Cajun restaurant. Yes, we have food here, but Hubby has never eaten at the place we are going. And, we are on vacation.

Then back to the casino to try and get some more money. Wish us luck!

"Alcohol sucks!"

That is what Hubby said last night. LOL! We are at the Coushatta Casino in Louisiana and Hubby overdid it just a bit.

This Thursday, we will celebrate our 15th anniversary. We have now outlasted both of our first marriages combined. :-)

We had talked about going to Vegas for our 15th, but after spending months recovering from a pulled hamstring, I did not love the idea of all the walking that going to Vegas entails. So, I suggested to Hubby that we take the money that we would spend for airfare and hotel for a Vegas trip and use that to gamble with at the Coushatta. He thought that was a great idea. My baby does love to gamble.

So, I took this week off and we headed to LA yesterday, and checked into our "chalet" around 2:30, brought everything in and got it put away to our liking. I have blogged in the past about our fondness for the chalets here a the Coushatta. It already looks like we live here. And we could, except that there is not anywhere near enough room for all our stuff.

Around 5, we headed to the casino for some gambling action. Hubby headed to the video poker. I headed to the slots. The casino adds free plays to players cards and sends a mailer about the free plays every month, trying to entice card holders to come back to the casino. This month, I had $30 in free play on my card. Hubby had $5 on his. I think the amounts must have to do with how often you come and how much you play. Since I come at least once a year with my girlfriend, I play more money, but certainly not 6 times more than Hubby. So maybe it has to do with how long you have been coming.

So, I started playing with my free money yesterday. I NEVER had to put any of my own money in a machine and I walked out $65.50 up. Yes! I won without using any of my money. How cool is that?!

I came back to the chalet to watch "Dancing With the Stars". Yes, DWTS trumps gambling for me. But we are here for 3 nights and 4 days, so with an extra day, I don't have to worry about not getting enough time in the casino. If I am having fun, I can stay and watch any shows on Hulu Plus later, or I can take a break. I love vacations!

Hubby stayed playing and said he be back to the chalet in an hour or so to make dinner. I told him he didn't need to cook, but he already had dinner planned so that is what he was going to do. He got back and I didn't notice anything until he bumped into the wall and said, "Alcohol sucks!" He was DRUNK! LOL! I knew he planned to drink, but I didn't pay attention to what or how much he was drinking, as he is not much of a drinker anymore. Well, someone should have paid attention, I guess. He was too funny and I watched him really closely. Once he got some food in him, he was a little better. He had talked about going back to the casino, but decided to stay in and watch a little tv and go to bed.

He said he does not understand how people abuse alcohol, as it was not fun at all. LOL! I told him you have to build up a tolerance, not just jump right in. I think he will take it a little easier today. I guess he wasn't too drunk, he came home up $5.75. :-)

He was up early, washing dishes, straighening up and said he felt fine, so I guess he didn't abuse too much. After I got up around 7, he decided to take a nap fo a nap for a while.

I am just relaxing with a book...well, with my netbook right now. After while, we will get ready and head over for some more gambling fun!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Hunger Games...a kids' movie?

I think now. (That was supposed to be NOT.)

Hubby and I went to see Hunger Games yesterday. I liked it, though could not see what all the hoopla was about. I guess I need to read the books. Hubby liked it okay.

We could not BELIEVE the number of people that brought their little kids to this movie! I am talking 7, 8 and 9 year old. Now, they could just all have looked really young, but they DID look that young to me.

This movie was violent! There are much more violent movies out there, but this was just way too violent for little kids. Hubby agreed and he has always been more lax on what is kid appropriate than I have.

I just do not understand parents that take their kids to movies like this. If you took yours to see Hunger Games, can you explain this to me???

Loving Hulu Plus!!

We have now been without cable for 3 weeks and we have not missed it yet! I DO have to figure out how we will watch Breaking Bad when the new season starts, but worst case scenario, we can pay $1.99 an episode to stream it from Amazon.

So, yeah, we are doing just fine without cable.

If you want to check out Hulu Plus, don't forget you can use my referral link and  get a 2 week free trial instead of the usual 1 week trial. Yes, it gets me 2 free weeks, too!

My Quiet Easter Weekend.

Well, it was sort of quiet compared to a lot of people's.

Saturday afternoon I went and got a haicut. Really just a trim. Nothing dramatic this time.

Around 4, we met my MIL, Samantha and her bf, John, and had an early dinner or late lunch, depending on how you look at it. We had some good food, and good company. We were done around 5:30 and Hubby and I ran some errands. Stopped at Big Lots, Dollar General, Kroger and Petco.

We were home around 7 and I was ready for some relaxing. We just took it easy that evening.

On Sunday, by special request, I made this:
That, my friends, is a HUGE lasagna. That is what Hubby requested for Easter dinner. I did not manage to get a pic of it sliced, but it turned out beautiful and delicious. Since it was just the two of us, it provided several meals as we kept some leftovers in the fridge and put some in the freezer.

I also fixed salads and garlic bread. It was scrumptious.

All of our kids and grandkids had other Easter plans, but we enjoyed our empty nest Easter just fine.

I don't drink the milk from my cereal bowl.

I know that is bad, but I never have. It is my only odd habit. LOL! BUT, I try to have just enough or even less milk than I need to eat my cereal. Maybe I should have heard about this when I was a kid.

Checking in....

I have been kind of boring lately, so didn't have much to write about, but wanted to let everyone know I am still here.

Hubby went camping on Saturday for 3 days, so I planned to do nothing for the weekend. But I was by myself. LOL!

I noticed that a valance we have in the living room was a little dusty and thought about vacuuming it. Then I decided, what the heck, I would just wash it. So, took down the living room curtains and valances and washed them and some throw pillows.

On Sunday, I washed out sheets, mattress pad, the comforter, our pillows and some throw pillows. I was on a roll.

I also scrubbed the bathtub just because.

Usually, Hubby does the cleaning and the laundry, but I was just in the mood.
So, my weekend of doing nothing ended up being pretty busy.

Hope you all had a fun one!
