Searching for Electrasol

So, I didn't have any Electrasol $2.50 until a member on HotCouponWorld sent me a RAOK of 10. I have been so busy the last week or so with work and kids visiting, our son, Chance, on R&R from Iraq, his wife and baby and our daughter, Meredith from California and her baby. It was a whirlwind of get togethers, since we couldn't get together with them at the same time. We had to do one for Chance and a separate one for Meredith. Meredith came to town to see Chance and they got to spend some time together at their "real" mom's house. Then there was a visit to Ft. Hood when Chance and family went back there.

Anyway, Electrasol was the last thing on my mind. LOL! So, tonite I made a run to a few stores and only managed to find 5 that I was willing to pay the price for. I found 2 at Family Dollar and paid $.25 each and 3 at CVS, paying $.49 each. I finally got tired of running store to store, so came home and realized that I really don't have any room for more Electrasol. LOL! I also managed to get a few Fructis to add to the stash, paying $.50 each. So the night wasn't a total flop.

But I have 5 more coupons that I hate to waste, since they were a gift, so I will be hitting a few more stores tomorrow to see if I can find more. I will be shopping on Super Bowl Sunday to avoid the crowds. Can you tell I am not a big football fan? DH doesn't mind...he gets to watch the game in peace.

Visiting with my kids and grandkids made the running around all worthwhile!

I went negative!!!

For the first time, EVER, I went negative at Walgreens. Well, at anywhere, since it never happened before. I went just to get some of what were good deals for me. My store didn't have everything in stock, so it threw my total off a little, but way more than I expected. LOL!

I got:

1 4 roll double pack Angel Soft
2 25 ct boxes of Electrasol powerball tabs (used raincheck from last week)
1 tube Aquafresh Advanced toothpaste
1 tube Aquafresh Whitening toothpaste
2 Glade sprays
1 plastic bowl ($.29..got this because I had more coupons than items and can use it at work.)

I got to the register and the cashier rang up all my stuff, then started ringing coupons. I used store coupons and mfr coupons on every item except the bowl, then used 1 $5 RR from last week. I was just watching to be sure that he scanned each one and when he stopped, we both looked at the total and our jaws dropped.

It was...... $-.01

I said "That had never happened to me before." and the cashier said it hadn't happened to him either. I was a little flustered and there was a line behind me, so I looked around for something cheap to throw in. The cashier suggested chapstick, but there was NO way I was paying $1.89 for chapstick! I grabbed a $1 bag of yogurt covered pretzels. (Yummy!) so paid $1.08.

I was so excited!! I could hardly wait to get home and tell DH about my first negative trip. Oh, and I get $1.50 rebate on the Electrasol. I spent $1.08 and saved $22.10!

Great day at Walgreens!!! Ahhhhhhhh!

Hotsack Giveaway!

Check out JANE4girls giveaway. I started using reusable totes and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them. I totally agree with Erin, if someone wants me to advertise for their store, the bags should be free. I love the Hotsacks.....no free advertising for anyone. LOL!

Thanks for the great giveaway, Erin!

The ones I use DO advertise, but they advertise my credit union that sold them to help re-tree Houston after Hurrican Ike hit. I don't mind advertising that!

Hickory Farms Deal

Okay, I know this deal has been around for a while...75% off at Hickory Farms. I have even seen some people blog about it, like Tracey. I had looked around, but hadn't gotten around to ordering anything. I really am TOO cheap!

But JANE4girls reminded me that I DO have a son deployed to Iraq! Well, she didn't remind me...it's not like we can forget. But she was right about it being a great idea to ship Chance something from Hickory Farms, since everything is 75% off. And Erin mentioned another 15%, so I knew there had to be a code somewhere and went searching. I found that code 833551 gets 15% off, so used it. I bought this:

and this:

Meat, cheese and cookies! What more can young soldiers want! The best thing is that I only paid $15.32 for $72 worth of stuff. OH, OH, OH! and Hickory Farms ships free to APO addresses, so free shipping! I was going to order one of the huge gift boxes, but got the message that it can't be shipped where I wanted to ship it. So a 5 lb box and some cookies will have to be enough....for now.

It does take 3 - 4 weeks for delivery according to the site, but....and here is the best part.....Chance is coming home this weekend for his mid tour leave. He will be home for 18 days then go back. So these goodies should get there right around the time he gets back!

We are very excited that Chance is getting this leave, though we are trying not to get too excited. He is married with a darling little boy and he has been missing his family terribly and they him. We have told him that we want to see him, but if they want to spend his entire leave with just the 3 of them, we understand. We miss him, but his wife and baby come before any of the rest of us.

So, we are hoping to see him, but won't be too sad if we don't get to, since we know he is getting to see his wife and baby.

We WILL get to see him when his deployment ends in June, 09! His wife will just have to share, then! LOL!

We WILL also get to see our oldest daughter, Meredith, and our grandbaby, Theo, pretty soon, as they will be flying from California to see Chance while he is on leave.

AND our middle daughter, Samantha, is back from Germany where she was studying last semester. One more semester here and she graduates from college.

Our kids will all be back on Texas soil! (For a little while, at least.) Yeehaa!

I got an award!

So, clearly I am not a blogger, but got an award from JANE4girls. So, I will have to learn how to "put stuff" in my blog, so I can pass on the award.

And, I guess I will have to actually blog on occasion. I don't want Erin to feel like she wasted her award! Ha!

Thanks so much Erin!! (JANE4girls)

Happy New Year!!

I was getting so bored with a lot of the frugal websites I have been following, but have recently discovered the wonderful frugal blogs here. I am now having a wonderful time reading blogs about saving money and living frugally. I already do both, but am always looking for new ideas and inspiration.

I am looking forward to an even move frugal 2009!!!
