Woe is me...

I can't believe it. I have been having such a lovely vacation and this morning I had time to check my email. I am devastated! I just found out that Kroger is going to discontinue its doubling/ tripling of coupons. That policy is what enabled me to save a lot of money on groceries. And it saved me a load of time as I haven't had to shop multiple stores. I always saved enough that on the items that I didn't have coupons for, it was acceptable to me to just pay the sale prices at Kroger and not run to other stores that might be cheaper.

I guess that will change now. Oh, I don't plan to run store to store for deals, since I just don't want to spend the time doing that. But I will be analyzing more closely who in our area had the overall lower prices. We have so much competition in our area. I know HEB has low prices and of course we have Walmart, though I don't love shopping there. Dollar General and Family Dollar have also expanded their grocery departments. So, I will be on a mission, come the middle of April, to figure out which store will get our grocery dollars.

And I think it won't be Kroger. So sad....I have shopped there since I started doing my own shopping and Mom shopped there since they came to Houston.

But I am not going to let this ruin my vacation. We are on the last day and I plan to enjoy it!

Sorry to hear that. We don't have Kroger here. We had Dillon's for a long while (Kroger is their parent company), but all of those that were close enough to be practical are gone, too.

I bet they will lose a lot of customers now. Maybe enough that they will reinstate their coupon policy.

Wow! My sis does alot of shopping at Krogers because of the doubling/tripling of coupons. She has gotten amazing savings.

I've never had a Krogers nearby, so this policy won't directly affect me, but I am sorry it is affecting you! But, you're right...enjoy your vacay!!! :)

What a bummer! I'd be upset too if one of the stores stopped doubling around here too! Actually, I think I'd need a day off work to 'mourn' and I'm totally serious.
I wonder if it has anything to do with the coupon show? And they have 12 more shows coming starting next week.
Those are the extremists....the grocery chains need to realize that's not the majority and don't punish us that use it wisely b/c of a few eggs, you know?
I wish you the best of luck finding the best deals....but if I were you, I'd wear black today :)

I am a Kroger regular and this is the first I've heard of this! I blame Walmart. Of course, I blame them for everything:)

BUMMER! We don't have a Kroger's around here. We lost one big grocery store, so now I toggle between, Sam's Club, Dollar Store & HyVee (but not much there).

Hi, friends. Thanks for commiserating with me. I am sure, with all the stores around me, I can find one with the deals I want. (I am not one to go from store to store to just cherry pick. I am lazy that way.)

I know how much something like this can upset you. It is like you are mourning a death or something. LOL
I have seen companies reverse one or more of their policies because their business has fallen off. So maybe if people stop shopping there they will reverse it. You can always hope!

Oh hon, this is horrible news! You have my deepest sympathies. Our doubling opportunities vary from store to store here but if any store yanked it altogether I'd be so upset!
Like SonyaAnn said, if this impacts their bottom line negatively enough, they can always reverse it.
I guess you are doomed to a life of cherry picking like me now, huh?lol
Cherry picking is hell on the weekends...at least I can do during the week during the day.

I have read on line that a lot of people are planning to boycott. I will be reading all the local ads and shopping at the store that I can get the best deals at that week. I don't think I will cherry pick multiple stores since I have to shop on the weekends. But I will be shopping the best prices.
