I saved some money this week.

I carry my lunch every day to work. Usually, it is leftovers from some previous night’s dinner. We make up lunches from most dinners, then they go in the freezer to grab at a later date. So, I am never eating what I ate the night before. (Unless it was so delicious that I wanted it again.)

So, I am being good and saving some money by not buying lunch out every day, like many of my co-workers do. There are a lot of places to eat near my office, some pretty cheap, some pretty expensive. If I were to buy lunch everyday, is would cost me at least $5 a day. That would be for a sandwich and drinking water. That IS pretty cheap for eating out, but I save that $25/week, by bringing leftovers.

Lately, though I have still been bringing lunch, I have been stopping at Whataburger for breakfast!

And they DO make it just like I like it. But I was spending money unnecessarily.

I don’t know why I wasn’t just bringing breakfast, like I always have before. Buying once in a while is okay, but over the last few weeks, I was stopping 4 -5 days a week! Spending $3- $4 a day. I was almost totally blowing my lunch savings! What was I thinking????

So, this week, I brought my lunch everyday and saved that money. I can make breakfast food at home. I can make breakfast tacos. I can make biscuits. I was just being lazy. So, I am getting off the lazy train and will be bringing breakfast from now on. I am not spending the money when I can make it at home, healthier and more delicious than I can buy.

I really do enjoy a good whataburger. They don't have them in our area, so somethings we stop when we are out of town. You are doing a great job with the saving though!

Taking food is almost always a money saver.

Kat's been taking her lunch to school since the first of the year. It was something she'd been wanting to do, and I figured with Shane being laid off, it was a good time for her to try. Hot lunch is $1.90 a day, so if she takes it every day, we save almost $10 a week or almost $40 a month. :) So far, she's only bought the hot lunch twice since Jan. 1.

Hi, Pam! I really do like Whataburger and I walk right past one every day on the way to my office. I just need to stay out of it!

Thanks for coming by!

Hi, Annie Jones. That is great that Kat is taking her lunch. What a great savings.

When I was in school, Mom made all of us buy hot lunches until we got to high school. We were so excited to take food instead of buying school food. LOL!

Have a great weekend!

Please post pictures of what you are bringing. I can't wait to hear about it.
And I love the new pictures that you have on the side of your blog!

SonyaAnn, I WILL post pictures. I think I will do some breakfast making this weekend and get some stuff in the freezer so I can just grab and go.

I like to change my pics once in a while so I don't have to look at the same old me. Of course, I don't change that much. LOL!

Thanks for coming to see me!

I love the new pictures...you and your hubby are so CUTE together! :)

Good job on saving $$ where you can. My twin sister found out that by bringing her lunch and only buying breakfast every so often, she was saving quite a bit of cash.

I am here most of the time, so I have no excuse...I HAVE to eat my own cooking day in and day out! LOL

Hi, A.Marie! Thanks for coming to see me.

I have been so good! I brought lunch every day last week and so far this week. So, 8 days of not buying lunch! Yeah!

I am not tracking savings, as it is getting spent elsewhere. Stupid medical expenses.
